I was in workington Town centre this morning

Was surprised to hear the bikes

I've been a biker for over 40 years but I wouldn't fancy riding today

Wasn't too bad at the track, and it was in very good condition,  nice to see Dan riding an upright

Couple of interesting people at practice William cairns and Dan Bewley,  Dan was on an upright godden, and looked good going round and on the pace with young William

Cairns looked real good in youth meeting at northside

Would expect a modern lay down to be quicker than a old godden upright so maybe not as quick as we all thought

What about Redcar?

their tail looks a little too long to me on paper

Nothings as easy as that in speedway 1 bad injury can ruin a strong team  Poole Glasgow and Redcar are good looking teams but some riders in them teams need to have better full seasons than last year

well of course, not suggesting anything is easy hence the word 'should'

anyone can get injured but when partaking in pre season predictions they cant really be taken into account

just a bit of fun at the end of the day

Workington certainly have much stronger reserves than last season. I think Hook may have reached his limit, can see a small improvement, but not much. But it's still a great reserve pairing, stronger than Glasgow & Redcar by far.

Not sure the team will do as well as last year's, guess a lot depends on wether Vuolas & Zischke improve away, if that happens, look a play-off side.

Addition: I think Glasgow, Redcar & Poole look almost certainties for the play-offs, could see everyone else fighting for 4th spot.

Please tell me you're trolling, no-one can be that clueless.

Your comment doesnt require a reaction. Cant believe folk think he is that good tbh. Isnt only me thinking he hasnt improved in his time here.

I think theres a lot of potential in the side. I can see they will have a strong home season not sure away. It all depends on how the team settles and gets their heads together. Lack of away track knowledge may be a problem but a stronger side the 24 if for nothing else the than the reserve berths

Stanislav Malnychuk mentioned on here, not too sure how real that is. I know he’s in the UK now permanently and wanting a championship spot in 2025. Unsure if he would come in on an assessed 4.00 though? Most likely to be Hook I think though

Cat 4 => 6.00 Championship average

Welcome to Workington Jacob Hook

Happy with how our team looks for 2025,  plenty to look forward to and riders who will make for exciting racing around Northside.

Well done to the promotion and all involved!

I don't think he's "that good" I think he's a 4.2 point rider, which is basically what the club had available for the last spot. If he had improved further, he wouldn't fit in the team.

2022 at Edinburgh 2.78

2023 at Edinburgh & Berwick 3.74

2024 at Plymouth 4.19

How has he not improved?

Celina averaged 2.45 this season, why would you prefer her in the team?

I do agree with your intended post though……

Cheers, if someone say's Hook should be doing better - fair point, or there's better riders available - could be, but he's not improved or Leibmann's better - strongly disagree.

Agree lots of potential but away could be difficult, also a lot of riders love Workington track some home matches won’t be a stroll.Great racing track though so should get some good track action.

Agree they look good at home, Batchelor (8.96), Zischke (9.38) & Vuolas (8.74) is a tremendous heat leader trio at home. Will certainly be much stronger at reserve. Not sure if say the team is stronger than this years with Cook & Vissing, replaced by Bowes & Etheridge in the top 5, I don't think the increased reserve strength cancels that out.

But the league is weaker than last year, with play-off rivals Poole Oxford & Scunthorpe all weakening, so that's not a dig at the Workington team.

Wasn't 2022 a much stronger league though?
