Workington 2025

Why do people find the need to say the club has made a mistake in moving a rider on?

If you follow a team in another sport you support the club and the players that play for your club badge each year. Speedway is no different.

Craig has had a great career over 3 spells in a Comets bib both domestically and on the international stage with a variety of success over the rest of his club career so now he isnt a part of the plans its deemed a bad decision? I will envisage there are multitude of pros/cons to sign any rider and the club has deemed that he doesnt fit the mould for the upcoming season.

This is a chapter that has closed for now (at least) but rest assured the club will be putting together a side with all intention of winning silverwear and like the sides in 2018 & 2024 write the 2025 side in your peril!

The forum would be a very dull place if you could only state facts & not opinions. If people think Cook is good value on his average & would be one of the top riders in the league in 2025, then of course they're gonna say Workington have made a mistake.

Only if the team or club would struggle with him being moved/moving on. Imo that will not be the case but only time will tell.

There has obviously been mitigating circumstances which deem the club moves on in a different direction.

There's been a few comments about Batchelor struggling in heats 13&15, but don't forget he was signed on a 7.16 average. That's not a rider you expect to dominate those heats like you would Cook.

Next year (assuming he signs) starting on an 8+ average, would be the time to expect more wins in the "big heats".

I agree with the sentiment and people probably forget we signed him on that average, but this is a guy who once scored a 15 point maximum in a GP.

So people probably always expect high levels from him. Will be a good signing even as Number 1 especially with even more heatleaders dropping the league next season.
Presume he will be Captain, he did a great job in that role when Cookie was missing. And his performances helped drag us over the line into the play offs

Yeah, Batch put in a big performance at Redcar in the meeting Cookie went missing to give us a shot at the bonus which we couldn't quite achieve as it subsequently turned out. Then followed that up with another big performance at Berwick in the win that really cemented the playoffs 👍
