Poole number 1 and former Edinburgh number 1 started speedway late on . both at workington . could be interesting !

2ndbend123
The point limit is going to be 40. I would think it would be between Cook and Batchelor for number 1 place. I would personally go for Cook but I am hearing wages are an issue with him. We could still have Batchelor if Voulas isn’t back. This might be a controversial post but I wouldn’t have Voulas back.. Yes his home form is very good but I can’t see his away form improving anytime soon also with his desire to be in Poland how committed will he be? Zischke will need time to settle again after a bad accident I am sure he will be fine but will take time hence why I wouldn’t have Voulas back the team could be very weak early on. I am also hearing that Zischke is bringing another Aussie back with him which will be Mitchell Cluff time will tell. Possible team below 1, Troy Batchelor 2, Simon Lambert 3, Tate Zischke 4, Mitchell Cluff 5, Craig Cook 6, Ace Piper / Dayle Wood 7, Paul Starke Thoughts? Neila
All quiet on the team building, probably waiting till after the AGM (some promotors party in the sun) What's anyone's thoughts of trying a later start time in the high summer months ? Maybe a 5 or 6 o clock start ??? This may attract more fans, as it's the nearest to a night meeting we can get without lights, people can have family time but still go to speedway, and maybe able to go to work and speedway. Thoughts please

Only a fans opinion, overall the crowds were ok, a couple of wobbles with low crowds, but may have been offset with the very large crowds early on, or against Glasgow, the promotion have done a hell of a job with sponsorship, thanks all 😊 and the supporters club done a great job. So hopefully all this may have made a successful season. On to 2025 UTC

So hopefully all this may have made a successful season. On to 2025 UTC Sponsorship is hugely important to the viability of the Comets especially considering the Worky Promotion are probably not in a position were they can absorb substantial financial losses over an extended period of time. In our part of the world opportunities for sponsorship from bigger companies are limited I would suggest. I wonder how many of the current Speedway teams showed an operating profit this last season ? my feeling would be not that many. Speedway Clubs need to work together as a unified body to stabilise costs, the sports fan base doesn't support club costs in many cases. Rider demands appear to increase each season without thought for the financial ability of clubs to meet those demands. It's obvious riders will ride for whoever pays the most as today it's a job rather than a hobby. If clubs in each league had an enforceable pound per point maximum figure depending on their status ie heat leader\second string/reserve then this would help promotions wrestle back control. The general opinion seems to be that the usual clubs accused of self interest don't seriously play ball on this. I have no evidence to substantiate this. The crowds dropped to below break even point at the end of the season which was probably due to a whole range of variables many of which have been discussed previously. It is incumbent on any promotion to understand the reasons and try to mitigate against losses going forward. How next season goes financially could well decide the longer term future of the Comets at Championship level. It is incumbent on the people running the sport to seriously look at ways of making the product more marketable and attractive to spectators of all ages rather than just being 15 minutes of race action for the hardcore much of which is FTG depending on who you support. This is nothing new but very little changes. They also need to secure a sponsorship deal that would underpin the sport.
tyretrax
Steve's reply to Roy in the video interview when asked about floodlights, which are still available, was parents said that they wouldn't come to a later start time with the kids. But unfortunately as summer went on, a lot of the kids who were attending disappeared, probably out and about doing other things in the better ?? weather, maybe if a slightly later start time was trialed it may be a success, or the club could maybe do a poll over social media or website to see the reaction to a possible trial start time.
