Well done to Redcar on the win however I’ll take our 10 point defeat all considered!

Some very close racing tonight with the dirt like right on the air fence towards the end of the meeting making for brave moves. Jenkins certainly done his job as a guest and Ace although wasn’t in the big points wasn’t disgraced even against that level of opposition.

Man of the meeting was Troy Batchelor he’s been superb for us all year and tonight he rolled back the years looked great on the bike.

My only criticism of Redcar wasn’t the meeting itself it’s a few of their supporters who stand on the home straight stand who now always seem to have  a little cry and a sulk (happened on our last few visits now) because we put our Comets flag/banners up, relax we pay to get in and spend money on food bar etc if your that offended cheer louder…

We took a beating by Poole who made plenty of noise and had flags etc up it’s nothing to get upset about personally I like to see away support when track visit Workington adds to the atmosphere. So next time don’t get so uptight I can guarantee everyone who stood there is friendly and up for a crack .

Well done on your win, here’s to tomorrow!

I have to agree here. We were right in the middle of the redcar fans on that stand and there was a very pleasant couple in front. The majority surrounding us weren't so pleasant.

Great fighting display from the Comets last night

Redcar were well worth the win but the Comets  can be pleased to keep it to 10 points so will be hopefully in the hunt for the bonus point today!

As previously said Batch was superb last night and looked fast and comfortable on the track.

Also thank you very much to Jordan Jenkins for his fine performance .

Big thanks to Jordan Jenkins for his great battling effort as a guest for the Comets. Batch was a superb skipper last night leading from the front, his gating was back to its best and he was quick on track. in some ways it was very disappointing because with Cookie and Claus a win could well have been on but well done the Bears on their win you were the more solid team. Thanks to young Ace piper for stepping into the difficult No2 position, he improved during the meeting and was right on the pace in heat 13. Antti was a little below par not his usual sharpness from the gate . Gonna be a big meeting at the GT Tyres Arena, heaven knows who will be Comets No1 . UTC !

I believe (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), but Ace is an unattached (in the Champ) NDL rider and they weren't given a facility for Vissing.

When we were talking about Paul Starke and Ace being dropped it was said that Starke could not guest. What makes Ace any different as you could Say Starke was unattached.Ace surely is Glasgow asset ,or is He? Quite confusing but thats Speedway.

Workington weren’t allowed a facility for Claus Vissing. They were only allowed to replace him with a NDL rider which Ace is with Sheffield/Scunthorpe

That's not true, they could use a Championship guest up to 75% of Vissing's average. There is no rule where you have to use a NDL rider.

Workington must have decided Pijper was the best option available?

Assets don't matter in this context. You have to be declared in a team.

Not going to disagree as not sure of the rules myself  but I got told last night the reason given why Vissing was missing, only allowed a NDL rider to replace him

Hold on a minute.....I heard that the management KNEW since the day they signed CV that he would not be available this weekend as he was acting as Best Man at a wedding. So how could they know months ago, that Ace Piper was "the best option" ?  Wasnt he riding for Glasgow at that time ?   And if so, wouldnt Glasgow have been riding last night so he couldnt "guest" could he ?   I am led to believe that the rules state you cannot have a guest replacement for a rider who is absent due to "personal reasons" ?  But if you can show me the relevant rule I will stand corrected !

Isn't this just another example of British Speedway working in its own little world with the paying punters being shafted again because of it.

This is the rule. It could also be that Ace was all they wanted to pay for.
