Sheffield v Leicester - Thursday 1st August

Recommended Posts

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Tai Woffinden r/r, Kyle Howarth, Josh Pickering, Chris Holder, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Richard Lawson, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Antti Vuolas, Sam Hagon.

1st August is Yorkshire Day, will Sheffield be celebrating it with a home win?  A very tough one for the Tigers tonight against a Leicester team who have riders that have shown a liking to Owlerton on many an occasion and could see this one going down to the wire.

R/R again for Sheffield which immediately puts Sheffield on the back foot for man and machine especially on another hot night and also in the fact it’s not really covered Woffinden’s points when used to date.  Pressure on the Holder bros to be on top form and for Josh and Kyle to get back in the points and hopefully get back to some consistent scoring.  Jason and Dan’s life made slightly easier with no Cook tonight especially after his performance for Oxford Owlerton earlier in the season.

The key rider for Leicester is Fricke as has been up and down at Owlerton, if he’s on it then Leicester could have the upper hand especially if Lawson, Douglas and Masters perform on a track they usually score decent on.

Tough one to predict, narrow home win for Sheffield 47-43 with Leicester going home with the bonus point

What's happened to Cook? I'm sure he was named on the website when I looked last night... the text above the line-up still states "But their initial job comes in South Yorkshire where manager Stewart Dickson names an unchanged team and riding order to face the Tigers."

Not sure of the answer on this one but seen a few posts on FB/X asking if Voulas can guest with having an assessed average?  Thought he’d ridden enough Championship meetings to be one irrespective of his only having one official Premiership meeting for Belle Vue

Vuolas does not have an assessed average.

He has a real Championship average of 6.00, and

A converted av of 4.55 (July Champ av x 1.5)

I think the confusion comes from the Speedway GB declaration page on the one posted today it has a * next to Vuolas and the * means assessed

It's got ridiculous, professional sportsmen dropping out of events because of wives etc. having a baby. Best to send her a bunch of flowers with a note saying "all the best, can't be there because my employer needs me to be working for them and I need to earn some dosh so we can buy food and pay the mortgage".

Sheffield 48 - Leicester 42... possibility of 6 rides a piece for the Holders should bring in plenty of points and think the home reserves will pick up some crucial points.

Leicester have hit some decent form at home consecutively beating Aces, Tigers and Witches by wide margins in their last three meetings. It will be interesting to see as to what extent that form can be transferred to their travels. Whilst not unreasonable to expect a Tigers victory, it would nevertheless  be a shock if the Lions did not keep the score close enough to comfortably take the bonus point as a minimum.
Should be a good meeting.

Once again, don't understand why Sheffield are using r/r at 2. Means superstar number one & GP rider Holder takes his extra ride against a rising star.

Feel it's a waste of a rider if his ability, would've used r/r at 3 or 4 personally.

Do riders that persistently break the tapes suffer from premature ejaculation? …..Just a thought!

Depends on whether they break them with the tips of their helmets!

I disagree works at home.

Heat 1; Howarth

Heat 2; Pickering

Heat 8; Holder (Jack)

Heat 9: Holder (Chris)

Brought us 9 points last week, and you I think it should bring us the same again.
