Workington Comets vs Poole Pirates 27th July

Recommended Posts

Workington will be hoping that there are no bugs in the system that plagued them last week as they will need to be at full strength, get well soon Tate,  as the Pirates are in town.

Don't think any of the Pirates have ridden  Northside and it's my understanding that even Richard Lawson hasn't had a skid around there.

This could prove to be a bit of a leveller as Craig Cook, Troy Batcherlor and co have had plenty of laps to get to know the best lines and set ups.

I'm personally very impressed with the set up at Northside having visited there once last season.

Looking forward to this first ever clash between these 2 sides at the new venue.

A real tough meeting for the Comets with a powerhouse top four of Lawson, Brennan , Z cook and B Cook with great backing form Hagon, hopefully the Comets will have a new rider in place before the weekend and Batch is fully fit.....heart says 47-43 ...head 43-47.

sam hagon rode a few times and is pritty good round northside

Also sure vinnie food rode last year aswell so with our poor reserves makes it even tougher for comets

northside is not a track that new riders need to have a few meetings to learn  so should be no trouble for poole

if comets do sign a new rider before hand rather than r/r then that rider has big shoes to fill

Glad it’s on BSN. Going to be tough for Pirates with only the reserves having any track experience. Expecting Workington to take a decent early lead before Pirates get their setups sorted and come back into it.

The shape of the track shouldn’t be an issue for Lawson, Brennan and Ben Cook.

Also Ben Cook could get some tips from his team mate Dan Bewley ;)

Dans a Cunbrian , he would give nowt away . even the skin of hie week old rice pudding .

Ben should be okay @ northside , after all the track is based on belle vue . just a bit wider everywhere .

looking forward to this meeting, win , loose or draw . a history meeting for comets v  pilots as it will be the first encounter at northside  , ever !up the cornets , down the pilots . speedway , its a fun sport .

Will be interesting to see the riding order, can't imagine Howarth would be at 2.

Maybe Vuolas 2 & Howarth 3?

matbe the holiday guy would be better @ 2 , so he can get back on the sunbed quicker .

Think Tom Brennen has had a practice session at northside,  also think he was down with the youth academy at the beginning of the season along with Sam hagon and vinnie frood who have also ridden northside

Will be interesting to see how many pilot fans make the northern tour, compared to how many comets fans were on the southern tour B)

Think I would use Kyle at 2, and on balance leave Antti at 3 and Claus at 4 to help counter Ben Cook in 12 and Zach in heat 14 .  Comets need a much stronger performance from Claus than recent scores if Comets are to get the points. Poole consistently strong at the back end of meetings with Lawson and Ben Cook  in 13 and 15 . Redcar were 6 points up last Friday going into heat 12 but a tac sub helped the Pirates  post 3 x 5-1's and a 4-2 in the last 4 heats to win by 8. Good gates will be paramount for sure as the Pirates are slick. There will be quite a few of us doing both meetings. Looking forward to the 4 days in the beautiful Lake District. I am staying in Keswick.
