StephenMiller
BIRMINGHAM take on defending champions Sheffield in a highly anticipated ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash at Perry Barr on Monday (July 22, 7.30pm). The two played out a fascinating draw on opening night in the Second City back in March with the Curtis Sport Brummies stunning the South Yorkshire side early doors when they raced into a ten point lead. Plenty has changed since then though and the Brummies now find themselves on a run of six straight defeats in all competitions. Meanwhile, the visitors currently sit second in the standings - but they have lost their last four away fixtures. And that’s something that CEO Nigel Tolley hopes his side can take advantage of on Monday night. “We know results and performances of late haven’t been good enough,” Tolley said. “But this next home meeting against Sheffield could actually come at just the right time. “Everyone on the outside will probably be expecting Sheffield to come and take the points without many problems at all. “But for us, the Brummies’ riders are desperate to turn things around - and let’s be honest, there’d be no better way to get things back on track than by beating the champions. “They may have a good team, but it’s not as if Sheffield have been sparkling on their travels lately. “So hopefully that will prove to be the case again on Monday and we can get a much needed win.” Michael Palm Toft will make his debut for Birmingham whilst they have booked Zach Cook, who was released from the team earlier in the season, to guest in place of Justin Sedgmen who is ruled out with concussion. The visitors include Jack Holder, who is currently second in the World Championship standings, 2012 World Champion Chris Holder and Josh Pickering who is a popular racer with the Birmingham faithful. Sheffield have also booked Australian international Max Fricke to guest in place of the injured Tai Woffinden. Whilst supporters can pay on the night trackside, tickets are also available to purchase online in advance for £23 adults, £20 concessions (with proof) and £10 students (with proof) - children under 16 are admitted free of charge! Brand new racenight ‘VIP Gold Tickets’ are also available for £39 - this includes a raceday programme, a pre-meeting pits visit, a centre green experience as well as use of the executive boxes upstairs in the main grandstand. All tickets can be secured via: trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/64084? Any supporters attending are also politely asked to note the racenight parking revisions. All season ticket holders are being asked to park in the main car park of the stadium where a dedicated parking area for season ticket holders and blue badge holders is being created close to the main entrance, which will leave only limited parking onsite for non-season ticket holders. However, the club will continue to do their best to provide car parking at the stadium for those with mobility issues, but are urging those fans to arrive by 7pm. The club are asking for fans who aren't season ticket holders, to use the car parking in Holford Drive (in front of Prince Albert High School), postcode B42 2TU, which is less than 5 minutes walk to the stadium entrance. The VIP car-park, which has been accommodating some season ticket holders and blue badge holders, will now continue to be used for sponsors, staff and second half riders. BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Michael Palm Toft, Wiktor Lampart, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Piotr Pawlicki, Leon Flint. SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Max Fricke, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.

Brummies_Ste
POPULAR Italian Paco Castagna will return to Birmingham colours for one night only later (Monday, 7.30pm) when champions Sheffield visit Perry Barr. He guests at No.6 in place of Piotr Pawlicki who has dislocated bones in his left hand. Pawlicki crashed in Sweden last week but rode through the pain barrier to finish on the rostrum in Saturday’s Speedway European Championship before racing in Poland on Sunday. But with the pain and the swelling increasing, he has now been signed out by doctors and will receive treatment back home in Poland today. The club wish Piotr a speedy recovery and thank Paco for stepping in at short notice. BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Michael Palm Toft, Wiktor Lampart, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Paco Castagna, Leon Flint. SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Max Fricke, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.
4BenMoran
Think this will be as tight as the meeting between the sides earlier in the season which went to a super heat. If Pawlicki was fit and could have brought his weekends form in Poland over to the UK as that would have been a game changer, but Castagna will give his all as ususal. Looking forward to seeing Lindgren v J.Holder and also interesting to see Brennan v Fricke as Brennan guested superbly at Owlerton last week and Fricke could use this as a testing ground rather than going with what he knows works. The Brummies reserves could have the upper hand in that department if the Sheffield duo don’t get out of the traps which they’ve both been guilty of so far this season especially away from home, so could come down to MPT/Cook/Lampart v Howarth/Pickering/C.Holder. It’ll be tight rather way but going for an away win 44-46 Edited July 22 by 4BM
heathen52
Paco guests for Piotr, yet another piss take, he was fit enough to ride Saturday and Sunday but not deemed fit enough to ride tonight, Birmingham are also using Zach Cook as a guest for Sedgy who has concussion, personally I think it's time Brum actually called time on this years Polish experiment and told Pawlicki not to bother coming again.

Fozzie4388
Paco knew on Thursday he was riding at Birmingham tonight. Obviously whoever runs Pawlicki's Facebook pages scheduled the posts. Either way it's another example of Polish speedway ruling and British speedway bowing down
Odds On
would of thought Brummie fans would of been happy for there promoters, saved them air fare, guarantee/points money....can see this being pretty boring to watch, dust clouds by heat five, nice blue groove, gate and go. TTT
Paco guesting is good news, You'll get 100% from him on a track that he knows instead of getting a half asked effort from Pawlicki on poor equipment.

This is probably true but tell the fans pawlicki has been crap and is costing us a fortune so we are making a change, don’t fob the fans off with some lame excuse which isn’t true
Hawk127
So why do some of these Polish riders bother? Is it because they are offered silly money simply to turn up and in doing so laugh at UK speedway so that the likes of Pawlicki are sticking two fingers up at the sport in this country and more importantly showing total disrespect for fans and in doing so those of his ilk believe they are more important than the sport in UK. It is unbelievable that these guys seem to pick and chose when they ride so have a real lack of commitment to the English club and seem to have decided that they will ride only if you you have an r in the month or I can’t make because my big toe hurts. From what we have seen so far, they have done enough to make the decision easy for any right minded business who should kick the rider out and publicise exactly why they had to take such action. Be open and honest with the fans in the UK. Poland have already decimated racing in this country with race days that suit themselves ( yes I like watch Polish racing and the packed stadia) but that does not mean I feel happy that the powers that be in this country simply roll over and take what is dealt out by the Polish authorities and allow riders to take the punters money back to Poland to boost their pension or whatever and leave the sport in this country on the verge of extinction. Those at all levels of authority and ownership in the sport need to get a grip.
