Edinburgh v Workington Championship 19th July 2024 7.30pm

Recommended Posts

Can the Monarchs get back to winning ways at home? They're up against an interesting looking Workington side, though sadly without Tate Zischke who I was looking forward to seeing around Armadale. I predict a return to form from Picko and a reasonably comfortable home win.

Teams from Edinburgh website:

Friday 19th July: Edinburgh Monarchs v Workington Comets (Championship), Armadale, 7:30pm

STELLAR MONARCHS: Josh Pickering, Kye Thomson, Lasse Fredriksen, Paco Castagna (Capt.), Justin Sedgmen, Max James, Connor Coles.

GT TYRES COMETS: Craig Cook (Capt.), rider replacement for Tate Zischke, Antti Vuolas, Claus Vissing, Troy Batchelor, Celina Liebmann, Sam McGurk.

Edinburgh really should take advantage of Workington's weak reserves, especially as they have to take a r/r outing. Time for Coles (especially) & James to shine?

Mind you Sam McGurk will have had a few rides round Armadale this year, so could pick up a few points.

McGurk has only been at Armadale once this year… and struggled. Fully expect Connor and Max to have the better of him and Celina.

Interested to see how Vuolas goes but I think we should have more than enough to win this meeting.

Leibmann seems to be a particularly bad gater, so with Armadale not being an easy track to pass on, Monarchs should score well in heats 2, 8 & 12.

Always interesting to see how new foreigners will take to the tighter tracks.

A reserve might not have to take a r/r

I'd use celina or sam in Heat 11.at least that way they'd be up against a fellow reserve from the monarchs and put antti in Heat 1.

I'm feel the Comets reserves are weaker than the Monarchs reserves, so would've "sacrificed" a reserve in a tough heat one, to give them a better chance in heat 2?

Not saying you're idea won't work though.

Vissing will be missing.  As they are already using r/r, Comets will require a guest...

Care to elaborate?

From Monarchs website:

A further blow for the Comets came with the news that Claus Vissing cannot be in attendance, the former Monarch man's flight to the UK being grounded by the global IT issues affecting many, at time of writing Claus' replacement had not been confirmed.
