I've not read all the comments but surely the simplest thing to do is 2 home and 2 away no mickey mouse cup comps regular fixtures or am I missing something :drink:

Why are the KOC & BSN series a "Mickey mouse" competition.

Surely riders want to win every race, teams want to win every match, fans want to win every trophy?

Of course the league is the main aim, but every club should want to win the league AND the cup, ideally a treble.

Glasgow and Poole should be in main league and allow the rest to go back to the days of semi pro riders

What makes Glasgow and Poole so special and worthy over everyone else?

So could Worky run on a Monday or Thursday evening in Premiership?

Poole have tried it, won the titles but lost money! Supporters prefer Wednesday racing and the club's finances and attendances are much improved with Wednesday racing.

Don't know about Glasgow but presumably they also don't want to move away from their regular racenight?!

Of course if Premiership racing was on each club's preferred racenight - and had priority -, then who knows.......?

At the moment no, but you already knew that. With where the stadium etc is now it wouldn’t be out of the question if they moved up.

Have they lined up a major 'Loads-a-money' sponsor then?;)

They are certainly being treated that way by the Championship promotions who still haven't come up with any dates for the semis of both competitions. This is developing into a repeat of the Jubilee Trophy which died from apathy. We've an enforced blank week for the SON compepetitions, then most clubs have a fairly full fixture list through August, so its a bit hard to see when/how they will be fitted in before the play offs.

I certainly don't understand why the promoters teat the koc / bsn the way they do. They should be going all out to convince fans to part with their money the same as they do for league meetings!

The CL should be two home and away but most promotors want the number of home meetings kept low as it means they have less chance of losing money as they see every home meeting a s a loss maker so 10 home meetings rather than 20 meetings means less meetings to lose money. An interesting fact is that in the Berwick programme is shows their rider with the most points in a season is David Blackburn in the 1989 season with 575 points from 46 official meetings so a possible 23 home meetings.

A large percentage of the argument against 2 home and 2 away was some clubs said they couldn't run 2 home matches and their NDL team as well.

It's quite wrong that the NDL tail is being allowed to wag the Championship dog. Things must change for next year. All Championship teams signed up for a theoretical maximum of 18 home meetings - 8 league; 4 BSN; 4 KO Cup and 2 Play offs  - so 16 league meetings (2H and 2A)  and two play offs would be the same commitment .

On paper should be fine. But remember there's lots of Friday tracks, in the later rounds of the KOC & BSN some will be knocked out, but in the league, they'll either have to race on off nights, or take it in turns to have a home match one Friday & the away match the following.

With the amount of postponements & many clubs apparent lack of assistance re-arranging fixtures, I can see the season going into late October / November again.

In a perfect world should be no issue, but with weather, matches now called off for forecasts even when it doesn't rain, fixed race nights, foreign fixtures etc won't be as easy as 10 years ago to hold so many meetings.

Finally don't forget, without the NL, where will the future Championship riders come from. The more foreigners in teams, the harder to arrange fixtures. Glasgow apparently avoided Vissing due to Danish clashes.

There's no BSN nor KO Cup in my "brave new world" of 2H 2A.  NDL clubs would generally be expected to run on a night other than the parents race night, leaving the Championship side free to arrange meetings on these nights.  Belle Vue and Leicester have no problem doing this. Middlesbrough raced Belle Vue on Friday June 7, a night that could have been used to restage the rained off Glasgow v Redcar fixture which currently doesn't look likely until September.

I know there is no BSN & KOC in your idea, my point was if they can't cope with some clubs having 18 matches & others having 11 matches, how would they cope with every club having 16 home matches minimum?

I understand your point regarding the NL, but if Middlesbrough would get 600 on a Friday but half that on an alternative race night, of course they'll want to stick to Fridays.

Do they get anywhere near 600 at their NDL meetings? What sort of crowd do they get at Armadale?

No idea, just making a point that NL may not work on alternative race nights.

I'd agree 2H & 2A would be a good idea if they 1) got rid of the play-offs, 2) teams worked together to get through the fixtures, 3) riders put British speedway first over foreign fixtures. But I don't see any of those 3 happening.

Really think we need a fixtures secretary role to ensure reserved dates are co-ordinated, something that hasn't happened in the past , and to tell clubs when to run restaged meetings .
