martinmauger
Similar situation in Hull; plenty of land inside and just outside city boundries, but literally ACRES of it just a couple of miles to the the North and to the West, but it's all owned by someone, just sitting on and it biding their time.... noaksey
There's a fair bit if derelict industrial land around Wolverhampton but it'll all be privately owned. South Staffs has never had a speedway track and I'd be amazed if their planners would be in favour of one but you never know. The required highway works for the site in question add another huge complication. I'd imagine the promotion will issue an update presumably between now and the start of the 2025 season but it's unlikely to say much of note

It was a business venture that paid off, they supplied a product which people wanted and brought, you may not like that fact but it wasn’t illegal, you can argue about morality all day long but that’s not how the world turns and I for one applaud they had the foresight to tap that market and give the cradley supporters what they wanted, you and all the other cradley supporters could of done the same thing but the fact is you didn’t They did, and it wasn't illegal as you say, but it was the claptrap about "helping" Cradley that came with it that I didn't like. They saw a business opportunity and rinsed some speedway starved fans of some easy cash. Maybe I expected better from those involved. Oh well. P.S. I'm not a Cradley fan 👍

salty
I suppose it boils down to whether Entain can continue to provide enough dog racing to fulfil the needs of their customers. As far as I know they also run Crayford, Romford and Hove. Having worked for Ladbrokes many years ago my understanding was that they kept the tracks in their ownership (in those days just Crayford and Monmore - Romford and Hove were Coral) to give them more control over the dog racing product in the betting shops. heathen52
I have no idea where the Wolves promotion are with potential sites, but would the following be viable. We know that Perry Barr will close later next year leaving the West Midlands with no Speedway, would a joint venture let's say somewhere round Dudley (Burnt Tree Island area) between Wolves and Cradley riding on a two track set up be viable?, what I mean by that is Wolves riding on the smaller track on the inside of a bigger Cradley track on the outer with a moveable inside line for the larger track, basically the same as Wolves & Cradley had but instead of the outer being for greyhounds it would be for another speedway track, hence the two track set up, using all the same facilities on one site. I think if wolves found a new site it would be a bigger track than M.G ...Similar size to the old Dudley Wood ...

Some kind of update would be nice though for the suffering fans who will be expected to attend if and when it ever did come back. They're certainly not doing things the Coventry way, or even the Arena Essex way or more lately Swindon. The silence from the Wolves is deafening... as it was pretty much from day one. Exactly, there are rumours all over the place, most are I presume unfounded but some are coming from not so much the horses mouth as the horses ear lobes but nothing official and that to me is contempt for the loyal fans, the thing they posted on social media yesterday looked like they were taken by surprise by the council notes, if the campaign to get wolves back is going nowhere then come out and say so

In Coventrys case there is a lot to say as its a very active situation with active MP involvement. What update is there on AE? Not seen much in a while! Swindon appears dead in the water and the club have been well sold down the river. Any activity is giving nothing new. Wolves have no home, no known land or track. I’m not sure how often you can say we still have no home no known land or no track? I take the point that the occasional update from the club on any update or activity might be of interest to the fans however.

I'm only really commenting from what I see on socials... and all of the 3 I mentioned have quite regular updates, with news on council meetings, petitions to sign etc. and I don't even follow the Swindon and Arena campaigns and they still find their way to my attention, you can add Peterborough to that list as well (and Rye House)... Wolves on the other hand, nothing, there doesn't seem to be any "champion" co-ordinating things, not from an outsider looking in.
