Beirao
Anyone remember Bill riding at their tracks - in particular at Sunderland and West Ham, two tracks where he scored well? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/june-2024/the-eldest-mcmillan
customhouseregularisback
I must have seen him in action at some time, as I rarely missed a meeting at West Ham between 1965 and 1971. I also went to Glasgow in 1967, but sadly can’t remember anything about him. Jim McMillan comes to mind but not Bill.

Like you, I must have seen him a number of times. I'm sure stats don't lie and you must have a good reason for saying he did well at West Ham, Beirao, but I don't really remember him there or any stand out performances. customhouseregularisback
Not particularly a West Ham specialist then.

In 1964, he scored five points from four rides. As far as I can see, that is the only time he rode there...

BOBBATH
Having said all that, at least he had a go and gave it his best shot- 84 this year, guys like Bill were some of the backbone of speedway
Beirao
I think my views were coloured by him having rare heat wins at both Sunderland and West Ham, the latter in 1968.
norbold
Yes, he won two races in the West Ham v. Glasgow match in 1968. In the first he beat George Barclay, Barry Crowson and Brian Whaley and in the second he beat George Barclay with Oyvind Berg falling and Stan Stevens having e/f. In his other two races that night he came last.
Beirao
Thanks. Not as impressive as I first thought.
frigbo
https://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/1787/bill-mcmillan Some solid reserve averages. Clearly, his short spell in Div 2 was more to Bill's liking.
