IainB
Was just thinking this morning that it was the type of meeting that gets you hooked on Speedway... was a lovely night weather wise, healthy crowd, close score throughout, great racing and a narrow home victory in the last race. For Oxford, Tungate put in a true number 1's performance, Schroek is less than convincing as a team manager, making some bizarre decisions. The big question of the night was... is Magic back? He was still very slow out of the start but showed some remarkable commitment to be Oxford's match winner with a couple of world class rides in his last 2. Leicester, business as usual I'm afraid, Fricke and Masters blowing hot and cold, Dickson making a ruthless decision to replace Becker in only his 2nd ride. All in all, although we got pipped at the line, I drove home happy after an evening of top quality entertainment! Given Stuart Dickson's recent record (this season and last) I think Luke Becker is in the frame for the chop. Not sure who would replace him or the effect on the averages etc. But when the team manger keeps saying something along lines of, "I can't get all 7 riders scoring together" I think there is only one thing coming. Personally I think it would be a shame. I rated Luke and applauded his signature pre season. I still believe he's a good long term prospect but two things are against him; (some) teams want results now and Stuart Dickson is not known for his patience. On the wider front, I do wonder if this "score now or get the chop" attitude is having a bad effect on the team spirit (or lack of it) in the Leicester pits

Against Oxford, really it was mission accomplished, win at home and claim the bonus away, which if done withh the majority of teams will get you into the play offs. Without the scoring power in 13 and 15 you'll soon be heading for a play off exit though. I don't know what the averages are but you'd maybe think hang on to Becker, as the potential is there, Masters must be worried though. But the win at home, get the aggregate point away, is not looking like a solid plan already. We've lost 2 home leagues meetings.

We've lost 2 home leagues meetings. Not to mention a round 1 exit from the cup. It was a plan that failed last year... so surprised to see them do it again, especially as Sheffield & Ipswich showed the blue print last season and are proving it again this season. 1

I went to the Ipswich meeting and it was the best one I've been to in years (thanks to the efforts of Russell, Osborne and Tomlinson!!) But all joking aside, the track was class and so many good races that night. Seems like it's carrying on throughout the season so I look forward to the local derbies when Rosco and Kilby and their financial backers save us!
Bojangles
I have to say the Oxford track has been superb ever since the club returned. Cracking racing almost every week - helped somewhat by Oxford having quite a few entertaining riders in Nicholls, Wright, Tungate, Harris, etc., they all throw the bike around. They might not always win races, but they certainly give everything. Oxford also widened the track and made significant changes from when it last used in 2007. Not that it was ever boring before, but it's superb now. Edited June 4 by Bojangles
FishersGate
Well done to the Oxford promotion for producing a good race track! I wasn't there but heard enough good things about the place last night which is one of the few positives coming out of british speedway. Happy with the bonus point and running the meeting down to a last hear decider. If only our little distant american cousin decided to show up then we may have actually won! God knows who will replace him if he gets replaced at all, I know the owners pushed for him to sign for the club so I think its matter of convincing them as well.
gjcone44
My point being no one was talking about it, before meeting began. 1

Agree totally (I must be unwell) for me it’s also the team spirit everyone getting involved and helping out across all the teams it really shows dare I say a bit like at Swindon in 2019. To be fair. The plan was working very well last year (top of the league including wins at Sheffield & Ipswich), that was, until a certain Australian rider failed a drugs test. After that, what didn't work were the changes made to try and cover for the lost points capability of the subsequently banned rider. But if you look at last season, you'll see Lions came unstuck when against Ippo and Sheffield once they'd followed the Ippo model
Triple.H.
I said last night to a few people that any Leicester fans who were there or bought the livestream, must be gutted that they don't get racing like that week in and out. Us Oxford fans are so bloody lucky after years of closure to have 3 good teams where every rider at every level gives their all on a well prepared track, all in fron of decent crowds. 3
