Plymouth v Redcar 04/06

Recommended Posts

Interesting one this, no fewer than 3 former Gladiators coming to town for the Bears (Edwards, Gilkes and Trigger). Interesting to see what they do without King?

Gladiators will be anxiously waiting to find out news on Covatti. Should be a good one

It would appear from a scoresheet on AMD Krško on Facebook that Covatti scored 8pts from 5 riders (3,2,2,0,1) yesterday and just missed out on a spot in the semi-finals.

Positive news towards him riding for Plymouth tomorrow :D

Of course let’s not forget also there’s the question mark of Dan Thompson’s health after withdrawing from the Under 21’s final yesterday through illness

Edited at 12:21 - No longer a question mark, he has Covid

Dan Thompson suspended for 7 days for failing to attend tonight’s Premiership fixture between Ipswich and Birmingham… despite withdrawing from yesterday’s U21’s final on medical grounds, testing positive this morning for COVID and being able to give evidence of that positive test with a sick note from his doctor…

wow

wow

'Banned' 'failing' 'despite' 'evidence' - all a little over dramatic me thinks. How about:

The standard 7 day sickness protocol, as per SCB regulations, will apply to Dan Thompson who has covid.

wow

That’s a reach. Anyone who misses a meeting on medical grounds has to sit 7 days out and has for quite some time.

I’m merely paraphrasing from Dan’s social media post earlier today

Plymouth taking the absolute p!ss with this now. SCB/BSPA just as bad for allowing it. Should be having to use a NL 2 pointer at number 1 till he turns up if he ever does that is.

Same situation as before with them.

BSPA / SCB can't do that, all they can do is give Covatti a 28 day ban for withholding his services, which allows Plymouth to use a guest. Once 28 days is up, they'd only be allowed a 75% guest if Covatti doesn't return.

This is not a similar situation to Kennett, he got injured in the first match & they used a guest all year (as allowed by the regulations - can't blame Plymouth for that) this is different as Covatti is riding elsewhere but not for Plymouth, so more like the Laguta situation imo

Makes sense, a shame the Plymouth fans still haven’t seen our number one around our own track.

The biggest shocker is Batch taking the guest appearance, he despises the Plymouth track and is very open about that. We must be paying him a fair few quid!!

Wouldn’t have thought you would want a NL guest as the last time they did it they WON at edinburgh LOL

The only part that doesn’t sit right with me( struggling to get my head around it) is how you can have a guest for something that hasn’t happened yet. Covatti hasn’t failed to turn up tonight, yet, but a guest is allowed. I know he’s probably said he’s not coming, doesn’t intend to ride etc but how can a facility be allowed for something that hasn’t happened. That’s speedway I suppose, for the good of the sport etc

Bears couldn’t find a guest so are running R/R. I assume the Bears would have used Batch but he is riding “elsewhere”.

Makes the task more difficult now.

Batch average higher than Danny’s

From the British Speedway website

The home side have two absences with Troy Batchelor stepping in at No.1 to guest for Nico Covatti, who has been suspended by the SCB for his non-appearance, whilst r/r covers for the unwell Dan Thompson.

Covatti correctly getting a ban for withholding his services, but Plymouth can be happy with that, as guests should strengthen them.
