Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 5th June

Recommended Posts

This coming Wednesday the Pirates take on the Redcar Bears for league points.

The  Bears have had some mixed fortunes so far with results and injuries to key riders like ex Pirate Danny King.

They have Charles Wright as their number 1 and he is always good value around Wimborne Road and have recently added ex Plymouth Gladiator Dan Gilkes to their squad to replace Jonas Knudsen.

Not sure who they have guesting for them for the missing Danny King.

My feeling is that this should be a comfortable home win but you only have to look at the Berwick performance last week to realise that no meeting is easy.

Thoughts.

Announced last night that Redcar are using Justin Sedgeman , but can’t see a shock result on the cards unfortunately.

Wonder if they tried to get Batch as a guest? Who got 13 at Poole recently compared to Sedgman's 6 (although he did hurt his arm later in the meeting, so may have hindered his scoring).

Very much looking forward to this meeting as I bring with me a mate who is originally from the Bournemouth area but converted to being a Lion! I/we will av to convert him to Pirateism!

Shame that it doesn't look like Danny King will be riding as it's always good to see how former riders fair on a return to their old haunt.  Charles Wright aside Redcar haven't got much to challenge us Pirates but I hope that they come with a fighting spirit and push us like Berwick did even if it means squeaky bum time!

@Steve Shovlar 59-31 win for us Pirates :t:

C'mon the Boyzzzz!

Will Max be in the team. Rumours abound from Plymouth and Glasgow (U21) that Foord may be replacing him, he scored 11 in U21

That is the rumour and I even said at last week's meeting that Vinnie could be worth a shot as I also watch him ride at Leicester.

He beat some more established riders at the U21 so as sad as it would be to see Max dropped the need is now to capture Vinnie before another team does.

I wouldn't normally come down from London for this fixture, but its going to be my first visit to Poole this season, to watch Vinnie. I've seen him a couple of times for the Cubs and the main difference this year is that he is staying on the bike. I hope it works out for him and a generous local helps him out machinery wise. Think this will be a comfortable home win by 16-20 points.

So Birmingham senselessly dump Zach Cook. How will he react? Disillusioned or dynamite. Watch out Bears!

Birmingham seem to be kings of making really bad decisions and to think people moan about Cami at Glasgow!

He doesn't sound too disillusioned, maybe KL pick him temporary if MPT is out with collarbone injury.

I only said that to give extra emphasis to 'changes in the riding order', after Barker's comments at Plymouth about rider changes.

I had been told the Foord news as had a few others on the night, but sworn to secrecy.  The deal had been done but had to be ratified and the official announcement made after the U.21s just in case he got injured!!
