Sheffield v Birmingham - 30th May

Recommended Posts

So the axe remains over one of the current Brummies 1-6 with Lindgren on his way next week, will we see any of the Brummies step up to the plate at Owlerton to secure their team spot, or has the Brummies management already made their decision no matter what happens in this one.

Sheffield will be hoping to build on last Thursday’s home win against Leicester and Mondays at Belle Vue, where on both occasions the heat leaders, engine room and reserves scored well.  Can only see them doing the same in this one as well securing a decent home win and bonus point.  Imagine that Sheffield will use a guest again for Pickering (believe it will be Schlein again) and possibly the same riding order with Howarth at 4 instead of 2.

For the Brummies Pawlicki’s and Lampart’s first rides here and judging by all the other Poles (Musielak the exception to the rule) they generally struggle at Owlerton, Worrall has generally been good at number 2 for both Wolves and Belle Vue around here getting a decent hauls, Brennan hit and miss around Owlerton over the years but on good form at the moment, Sedgmen knows his way around after wearing the Sheffield kevlars on more than one stint, Cook and Flint join the Owlerton hit and miss brigade although Flint at reserve could be key if he has gating gloves on with his liking if the wide lines.

Going for a comfortable home win of 54-36 with at least one of the a Sheffield team unbeaten by an opponent

Pawlicki and Lampart unavailable - IMP challenge in Poland

So I’m assuming guest choices from Belle Vue, Oxford and King’s Lynn for those two if it’s an official PZM meeting

Guest choice for Birmingham could be interesting if they have a few riders to call upon. They need someone in at reserve who can bang a few wins in if they want to keep it close, as I don’t think anyone will get much from Woffy, Jack and Chris.

53-37 home win

Looking at guests Pawlicki on 7.50 so choices limited and no out and out number ones on or around such an average, possibly Harris, Tungate, Basso or Iversen, as for Lampart there’s not a lot of scope either in the Premiership so expect they’ll get someone who currently rides in Championship best option Etheridge, with others like Thomson, Castagna, Lambert available

Tungate and Etheridge would be great choices. I imagine Harris comes cheaper though.

As a Brummies fan I’d say we are taking the p%%s putting that team out !!!

On current form I’d say it only slightly weakens you as lampart has been going well, don’t think we will c pawlicki riding for brummies again can’t c how they can drop any other rider they’ve all done there job.

Why weaken what is already the weakest team in the league.
I think Pawlicki will stay and either cook or Worrall will be released … probably cook

R/R for Pawlicki is basically Brum writing off this match. Brennan may put up a fight but unless Worrall and Cook gate well on night could be a 60+ score for Sheffield

Totally agree.

The meeting simply shouldn't be ran knowing two riders are missing...

A ridiculous way to run a supposed professional sport, as all it does is devalue the league..

If the promoters don't care who turns up riding for the teams, why should the fans be brothered?

Well done the Brummies for calling the situation out for what if is, and saving themselves a good few quid..

Birmingham will have agreed this date at start of season when the Polish fixtures also available on international calendar, Sheffield ran last week without their number 1 (Jack Holder), middle order rider (Josh Pickering) and reserve Rising Star (Dan Gilkes) but paid for two guests and ran R/R for Jack Holder as gave them better option than the guests available, so no excuse blaming having two riders out when there’s three teams not riding and plenty of Championship unattached riders to choose from

Who cares who is available, it shouldn't matter. ....

The meeting simply shouldn't have been agreed to be ran knowing riders will be missing...

And "someone" should have stepped in to either not allow it, or run it as a challenge..

You either want the leagues to mean something or you don't...

Making up teams simply so meetings can take place has ruined the credibility of the sport..

So to keep doing the same thing that prevents the sport being taken seriously over and over again is crackers..

As, of course, was giving up Thursdays as a UK priority day...

Which is the crux of the issue here...

Another self inflicted kick in the whatsits...
