Isn't that primarily the referee's responsibility?

I was always under the impression that the referee controls the meeting at the "advice" of the home promotion. So if they want a drawn out meeting to boost burger sales etc. That's what they get... who knows though?

The ref is (Sheffield's) Dave Watters... back to the sin bin for him!

In normal circumstances there should be no more than 4 minutes between the end of one race and the start of tge next ( including the 2 minute time allowance).

I don't think boosting burger sales is a reason for delay!

Glad I didn’t go now - I want my first NSS match to be a full 15 heats with no hints of a m Rain or call offs etc let’s just be glad this wasn’t the showcase match on TV tonight !!

Another first! First time I've been to a match called off by the St John's Ambulance Brigade!

Same here never seen that before, it should be between the referee and captains,  it was obvious she was getting her point across and Mark Lemon even said it on the microphone and now had to retract it in statement.

This was a complete shambles from start to finish, from the late preview on the website to the non appearance of Kurtz and everything that happened at the stadium... worst event since opening night!

All very odd, medical team could clearly be seen conference with referee and team mangers, Lemon makes an announcement citing Chief Medical Officer as reason for postponement and then has to retract...don't think we've heard the last of this.

The very least fans deserve is a comprehensive and clear explanation of events

Kudos to the BelleVue promotion for at least trying their level best to complete the meeting

On me way home and thinking what a shambles. Sure can not help with the weather. Not sure who’s at fault but not a good day for BV management. No way to run a meeting and they wonder why crowds are dwindling fast. Puzzled by Lemons comments, most bizarre? He doesn’t seem to know what’s going on? As for the feeble ref well enough said. The only ones to come out with some credit is the BV track staff who really give it a good try.

Disgrace Kurtz picking his meetings to ride in.

Hopefully the Tigers will defend their advantage when racing resumes.

Lots of things wrong about today, Kurtz not riding is not one of them.  He was at the meeting with his foot in a boot with ligament damage.
