Workington v Oxford championship 3pm 25/05/24

Recommended Posts

So after two days of heavy rain in the north west , the weather on Friday and Saturday is set to be dry when the Oxford Cheetahs come to Workington looking for League points.

The Cheetahs have a very strong top two heat leaders in Sam Masters and Scot Nichols backed up by Cameron Heeps , Jordan Jenkins and Henry Atkins. Also in the Oxford side are talented reserves Luke Killeen and hot prospect Ashton Boughen.

The Comets are missing the flying Finn Antti Vuolas and is replaced by former Comet Connor Bailey .

Could be a tight match. This is where reserves might decide the result IMO.

Personally although I like bailly I'd not book him as he didn't want a Saturday track when asked about this season

What a way that would be to run a Club, you didn't want to ride every Saturday for us so we won't book you as a Guest when we need one.

Yeah you can't hold grudges in speedway, riders are at a premium and they swap clubs nearly every season anyways.

Connor hasn't kicked on this season like I thought he might, only averaging 4.50. But is still capable of a good meeting now and then.

nowadays at workington i still cant see the raceing for the masses of people in front of me. but thats a good thing ..

I do think voulas and visiting get in each others way at times

Cookie and tate do ride real well together so be a shame to split them up but might be only option if voulas and visiting are separated

Nothing new with claus, with his style hard to find a suitable partner. Ben basso rode at 3 for us most of last season because was only one in the team had some kind of understanding. Basically however wide claus would ride Ben just rode wider lol

Oxford Lineup

1. Sam Masters – 9.05
2. R/R for Henry Atkins – 4.28
3. Cameron Heeps – 4.77
4. Jordan Jenkins – 5.89
5. Scott Nicholls – 8.54
6. Ashton Boughen – 3.38
7. Luke Killeen – 4.17
8. Jody Scott

R/R for Atkins must make them stronger surely as Atkins has been averaging a grand total of 0.62.

I think scaramanga was led on by the Antti-Vuolas brigade, who hoped he wouldn’t stay for long.

I think Antti and Claus are pretty good as a pairing. Tate has ridden with Claus during a previous meeting, Claus almost wiped him out down the home straight.

This has the makings of a difficult meeting, Antti is top class at home while Connor seems to be struggling for form at the moment. Sam and Celina will definitely need the bit between their teeth and make the Cheetahs fight for every point. Ashton Boughen flew round Northside many times last season and in Scotty and Sam Masters they have one of the strongest heat leader pairings in the league so we will need a solid team effort from the Comets.
