Tai Woffinden had a front puncture in the ht11, that’s why he purposely touched the tapes.  Quick thinking but unfortunately the track wasn’t conducive to overtaking last night, think Kyle Howarth made five passes (two in one race) that were after lap 1 bend 2 apart from that can’t really remember any others apart from that.

By the way great to see Kyle back on it last night, he’s tried absolutely everything to get his season on track including arranging a practice session on Tuesday this week to try get a set up working at Owlerton, by the way if there’s a video of ht15 with his battle with Lawson including the hairy moment off bend 4 into the home straight I’d love to see that

I thought i heard the bikes earlier this week! Where I live you can hear the bikes if the wind is in the right direction!

I do think Howarth can try too hard on occasions, he was clearly overriding a couple of seasons back in the grand final that you lost, maybe less is more with him?

Definitely does override on occasions but I’d rather see that than someone just tootle around at the back not giving it their all like we saw with Batchelor and Cook once they’d missed the start

Don't criticise Cook! I'm heading for the bunker! :D

Do riders still have to obey the start marshal with the introduction of the 2 minute clock? Woffy clearly wanted more time to faff about with his start position when he was off 15 last night but the marshal had already called the rest of the riders up to the line with there still being well over a minute left on the clock.

They should be able to utilise the whole 2 minutes, don’t think some of the start marshals quite understand that at the moment, maybe another one for Morris’ to do list

02.2.12 Start Marshal

d) they must bring the rider to the start area in an orderly manner, determined by their gate position with the inside being first, to the correct position, which will ensure the front tyre is within 75mm of the tapes, checking that the ignition cut-out lanyard is correctly attached

012.1.3 2 Minute Time Allowance

A countdown clock either controlled directly by the Referee or under the instruction of the Referee must be used.
Riders must, at the expiry of this time allowance, be at the starting gate ready to start. Should any of the riders not be ready to start, they shall be disqualified from the heat.

The rules seem a bit contradictory and could be open to abuse. The rider in gate 1 could stick to the latter rule and pull up to the gate with 1 second to go, leaving the riders in gates 2, 3 and 4 high and dry. Surely rule 012.1.3 2 makes 02.2.12 d obsolete

I really rated this Lions side at the start of the season. They are all consistently inconsistent. Fricke a let down too.

Leicester currently less than the sum of their parts. Nobody rising above their start of season average, of which at least one is needed to make them into serious challengers, and no sign that it's going to happen, either.

But if you look at the other teams, only Tom Brennan seems to be firing above his starting average!

How long was left on the clock when Douglas stalled and had to go away from the tapes to restart his bike ?

He got back in his start position literally as the clock hit zero... if the ref had been in a bad mood he could have easily gone

Nothing, if the referee had stuck to the rules he should have been excluded as he wasn't ready even though he was at the tapes

With a high points limit, 40+RS (43/44) when the average should be 42, riders / teams should drop their averages. Any rider with a higher 2024 figure compared to their rolling ave has done very well.

For Leicester:

Joe Thompson 2.17 / 1.51 (+0.66)

Richard Lawson 7.39 / 6.76 (+0.63)

Ryan Douglas 7.78 / 7.58 (+0.2)

Sam Masters 6.79 / 6.61 (+0.18)

Drew Kemp 4.12 / 4.49 (-0.37)

Max Fricke 7.78 / 8.32 (-0.54)

Luke Becker 5.58 / 6.30 (-0.72)

Lawson having a great season, Douglas improved too. Perhaps surprisingly both Masters & Joe T's 2024 averages above their rolling aves.

Kemp down a bit, with Fricke & Becker being the biggest disappointments imo.

Only going by the Updates website, but an average performance from Fricke would have got the Lions over the line. Dickson will be furious.

Lions fans watching Fricke in Poland tonight must be a bit cheesed off paying money over here to Watch him.
