Strangely it could be the word JAP, I and others have had several warnings about using it when talking about the engine ,same as you can’t say tranny when referring to a ford transit

Or Scunthorpe? :o:D

The way Facebook seem to operate, is if someone reports something then they take it down or hand someone a ban, without bothering to check if there really is something offensive.

Except, as I said, if you report porn videos on a speedway page.

or has Karl just thrown his toys out the pram again?

Nope.  Karl told me via Messenger: "Facebook has disabled the group because it has removed post that violate rules. I have files an appeal and am awaiting feedback.

About eight years ago I received a very explicit porn video on my Facebook account. I forwarded it with a complaint to Facebook who promptly banned me for a month for forwarding it to them!

When I pointed out that the instructions for making a complaint said you should forward the message with the complaint they replied that users were not allowed to forward obscene messages! When I asked how I could make a complaint in accordance with their rules if I was not allowed to forward the message they replied that as I was not willing to follow the rules I was permanently banned and no further communication would be acceptable.

My reaction was to tell them in explicit language what they could do with their service. I have never gone back as they seem to support obscene messages.

woke lefty algorithms now affecting speedway groups, whatever next

Another person using the Mail/Express version of whatever they think “woke” means.

It’s right-wingers who curb free speech -that’s why Mail and Express readers cheerfully try to blame everyone else.

That Speedway Friends group was the worst anyways, full of people asking the same old questions and then people spamming the page with posts about racing from about 50 years ago or more which no one cares about.

"Have you ever rode a Speedway bike? Risking your life for our entertainment"

The stock comment on any Speedway social media site to anyone daring to criticise anyone who rides a Speedway bike "for our entertainment"..

With the stock answer being..

"See if they do it for free".... :D

So, nobody cares about speedway from 50 years ago?

I care about racing from that era, in the same way as I care about modern racing ( perhaps even more so because I had a local team to follow, and forged friendships which last to this day)

I'm sure the older generation do, but you can have special interest groups for that of which there was a few like the 'Old time speedway' page.

But it wasn't constant sharing of old posts by the same people, which had zero engagement that filled up the timeline which made me leave

Given that today is the 48th anniversary of the passing of Tommy Jansson I'd say it's even more important to remember the past, and if Speedway Friends was or is a vehicle for that then all well and good. Room for everyone

Thanks for reminding me I am now 'the older generation '. Sad to say, but British Speedway would be lost without us

Yeah, you read some of the comments on Karl's post, and there are several people who've had their groups taken down.

Trouble is, all they ever say that it "violates community standards", but they never tell you how.

Seems like "speedway" really is a dirty word these days...

The issue is caused by some of the comments on there being classified as hate speech. The speedway groups and similar sports interest groups are easy targets for the Meta bots and statistically taking one of them down is the same as taking down a right wing group on the platform.

TITANIC NEWS UPDATE:-

It has just been announced that after 112 years of the sinking of the cruise liner, undersea explorers were flabbergasted to find that the swimming pool onboard still contained water.

NOW HOW REMARKABLE IS THAT!
