Oxford Cheetahs vs Poole Pirates BSN 2nd Leg 8/5/24

Recommended Posts

This Wednesday it's a trip to Sandy Lane for the restaging of the washed out meeting from April.

Poole have a commanding lead after winning at home 61-29 back on Good-Friday and should win the tie on aggregate .

Oxford will be out for revenge for sure and it should be an interesting encounter.

The Cheetahs have a good top two in Sam Masters and Scot Nicholls  and I expect the bulk of their points will come from them.

To have any chance of pulling back the huge deficit, It Will depend on how Cameron Heeps and Jordan Jenkins perform  along with Luke Kileen who has had a good start to the season and of course the contribution of the reserves Ashley Boughen and Henry Atkins.

Poole could be without Zack Cook after his fall at Berwick on Saturday so could be rider replacement.

Thoughts?

Have Oxford had an average change? Isn't Killeen at reserve with Boughen like he has been all season with Atkins at 2?

Technically Oxford can still qualify, they just need to get the bonus over the Pirates & hope Plymouth get a home win over Poole.

But realistically a chance to improve on their home track before the league starts.

Easy win for Poole, 2 man team Oxford 2nd strings poor.

I would've agreed with you until Oxford's last home match, when they scored much better.

Depends which Boughen they get, got double figures guesting for Scunthorpe, but struggling for the Cheetahs.

Was that at Redcar though, where everyone likes it!

Having watched Oxford Vs Glasgow, Cam and JJ definitely improved but they don't seem to make it easy for themselves! I'll go for 49-41 to Oxford.

Plenty of reasonable options if needed!!;);)

Is there? I must be getting fussy in my old age then lol. Could always ask Tate, he could get some practice in before Worky go there.

For example Kyle Newman or Dan Thompson. R/R too risky.

Not when they are in the same group!

It shouldn't be allowed, as a Poole win virtually knocks Plymouth out of the running.

But sadly it can (& does) happen.

Shame tonights meeting is off, Sam could have got some practice in preparation for Wednesday.

I presume u mean Hagon and not Masters? :D

Mind u it's Masters that needs the practice after his woeful display at Leicester last week! Play it again Sam (Masters) on Wednesday! :t:

Be interesting to see what the crowd is like for this meeting. Cheetahs crowds have been a bit down this season, and expect this to be even worse with the fact they virtually have not chance of progressing and the original fixture was rained off.

Think running 3 Teams was not really a good thing regarding crowd levels. Its pretty obvious that not a lot of fans can afford 2 meetings most weeks.

I think it's still too early to make a judgement on it. Spires crowds are very good, and Chargers as good as (or even better than) last year. Cheetahs crowds are the only concern, and hopefully crowd levels will improve once the league actually kicks off. Just especially worried about this fixture as it's pretty unattractive. If you're an Oxford fan and worried about costs, this will be one to miss.
