Maybe because Tungate wasn’t even in the same country? How long are you going to wait? It’s down to the SCB to do their own investigation as to why Tungate missed his flight. Maybe they weren’t happy with the reasons given? Fact remains, one flight took off on time and one didn’t take off at all. As I say, apples and oranges. Calling for a ban for a rider who was on his flight and told to get off it is bloody ridiculous.

I agree, about Tungate/ Doyle.

Like you say Doyle turned up on time for his flight, and the the reason for him missing the meeting was beyond his control.

In the case of Tungate his flight left without him as he was late for flight, that is down to him that he did not make it back into the UK in time for his meeting.

For me the two totally different reasons for missing a meeting.

NSS is a lovely set up and a nice track which has been great for British Speedway. But it’s a typical soulless modern GP style track. More overtaking on the straights then in the bend and is entirely reliant on who has the best equipment and set up.

understandably set up for their top riders who are track specialists to dominate

Sheffield gave them a good meeting few weeks back, both sets of riders going for it. Ipswich track is absolute crap in comparison!

i was on the third bend when lidsey came under sayfutdinov, and wright, good hard move sayfutdinov got him back lap later same way, for some reason i would not enjoyed it the same if they were doing 5 mph.

Your'e absolutely right. It's time this track was shut down and the stadium demolished. All major meetings in this country now to be held at Plymouth.

Well Ipswich were fairly toothless, only 1 heat win prior to heat 14.  Disappointing all round except for Dan Thompson who looks a far more accomplished rider than he did when I saw him last year.  Racing wasn't great, especially to begin with.  Lidsey v Sayfutidnov behind Cook being the highlight.  Is that the first time Sayfutidnov hasn't won a heat in Witches colours?  No-one will know how the EF affected him really, but Mountain was clear and Bewley had just sneaked past him.

King, the former British Champ?

... like Adam Ellis :D

Neither have been up to much since I've been a regular at the NSS.  Their British titles were won when there was one line 5 cm's from the fence.

On these "grippy nights", where the racing always improves later in the meeting, why not let the riders do 6 practice laps or so each before the racing..?

That would be 84 laps, the equivalent of around 5 races worth of match laps..

Moving the dirt out so, meaning the inside grip reduces, hopefully making the racing improve quicker..

The track improved after the post heat 4 grade, when allot of the dirt was scraped off.  But I have said before the best was to prepare a track for racing is to allow each rider to do a couple laps then grade it a small amount between each heat.  They can get two tractor circuits in the 2 minutes between heats if required.

Ben Cook certainly looking like "one to watch" over the next few years..

His improvement "glide path" is similar to those who have gone onto the very top level...

Cook is not as young as people think, obviously a late starter.

As some of the returnees to the league are finding out, riding in the UK is not as easy as they may have thought. Plymouth would actually give them a test and I'd love to see a top meeting there.

He only scored four at Foxhall earlier this year and has not been at his best so far. Doyle is their inspirational rider so was a big miss but it's early in the season so no real damage to their playoff chances.

A lost BP is the only real damage from last night. (so far)

I know gate ‘n’ go has gained in popularity over the decades to the point now where it’s the preferred way to present the sport in the UK but I never thought in all my years on this crazy forum I’d hear someone complaining about overtaking at a meeting. This is the zenith of this forum and demonstrates how out of touch I am with this sport now.

Like old days tonight, 4 Ipswich riders wearing race jackets. The guests are understandable but why Sayfutdinov and Jenkins not got Ipswich race suits?

Jordan had travelled straight from Ipswich on Thursday to ride for GB in Pardubice. This was meant to be Saturday but postponed til Sunday.
His suit had gone home to Norwich to be washed.
With the delay to the meeting, he drove from Czechia straight up to Manchester and wasn’t able to collect his suit, hence the GB suit

No action against Doyle.

Common sensed prevailed in the end. (Six words you don't often see on a Speedway forum).

Doyley could have picked it up for him... oh hang on...

So whatever happened to Tungate was in his control.
