I wouldn’t bother replying to half the crap posted on here, meant to be a speedway forum to discuss but so far this season it’s filled with trolling.

faster than about 90% of riders in the championship this season when you consider 60mph was the going rate of speed down the straights.

sure are thick skinned up ower the border .

Thick skinned to repel the hours of sun we get , with the exception of a 40 mile radius east of Harthill.

Looking at the forecast this morning, were they a bit previous calling this one off?

A wind off when wind speeds are 30mph, and gusts are 50mph per met office… That’s a bit of an embarrassing call off, when you had a good crowd in last week. Punters will soon fall back out of habit.

I guess wiating until this morning might have been a good idea in hindsight but there is a yellow weather warning associated with a named storm and the track is right on the coast with very little shelter.

Nowadays (rightly or wrongly) health and safety of paying customers is paramount and can sometimes go OTT, but it is what it is.

Can not understand this call off looking at a few forecasts. Think the promotion were just looking at headlines 70mph winds. Workington forecast was 30mph winds with possible 50mph gusts. Not much rain forecast either.

They did the same with the BenFund meeting called that off early and weather was absolutely fine on the day.

30mph wind in Cumbria is the norm.

Any other sporting events in the region cancelled because of the weather warning?

Think big issue for Ben fund meeting was the car park was under water

The wind is brutal today down by the coast, not surprised it’s off.
They could have risked it by running it, but with the many temporary structures that are in place (this is not a stadium by any means) and debris flying, who would be liable?

It would be madness to run in these conditions with a much reduced crowd, having plenty of free weekends probably makes the decision easier these days.

is this a wind up  so when you get a 50mph gust when your driving in a car , it sends you in another direction (one direction) . so what do you think it will do if you are on a motorcycle ?

local swimming baths flooded and under water ! ! !

did anyone see the  scunthorpe v redcar meeting on bsn last night  track was  still soft and rutted from the  cancelled v workington meeting a week earlier  . 3rd bend had 3/4  riders off due to a large puddle the week before

looking forward to seeing the berwick v Glasgow meeting tonight . that is of course is if the wind and rain does not call it off .

at the end of the day , safety of all concerned is a big issue .steve lawson knows the cumbrian weather well , being local.its all in the interest of speedway .

saves travel costs ,saves injuries to riders and saves lives by calling it off

Berwick off yet  ?

Swimming baths flooded and under water, that's a good thing isn't it?

The issues with the track last night were nothing to do with what happened 7 days earlier, there's a fundamental design floor with the track and the drainage isn't good enough.

I think at this rate you'll be lucky to see any Speedway in Cumbria this year, if they're going to cancel because a bit of wind is forecast

entitled are we ? better to have proper racing than follow the leader , so IF you were a in charge of a club you would have gone ahead with most meetings , rain or shine .

did you not see the large puddle on scunny TV last week ?

anumber of years ago , riders where putting spoilers on their front wheels , dont know why . bur soon took them of due to gusts of wind taking them in another direction .

BTW the weather was not kind during the week upto the redcar meeting .

glad you got the baths comment .was it a wooden FLOOR ?

They have already seen speedway.Given the problems Leicester have had with the track over the years your comments are a bit weak.

Nice to see the absolute weapons that were kicking about on here in 2018 are still here now.

Right decision to call it off today, the rain we’ve had through night the past 2 nights has been horrendous for a start.

The wind today is bad, these bikes can be volatile at the best of times couldn’t imagine trying to keep some sort of control with a 70mph gust battering you.

Plenty of free weekends over the course of the season to squeeze this one back in.

Berwick is on and I expect the meeting to go ahead.

Despite clubs seemingly having very blank calendars, there's no available Saturdays for a re-staging until June 22nd when the BSN fixture could replace the scheduled league fixture.

If Plymouth beat Scunthorpe in the KOC then 28th April becomes available.

I can see the BSN series lasting a lot longer than last year.
