Aces v Sheffield 01/04/24

Recommended Posts

Is there no topic started for this one because the weather forecast is pants or due to lack of interest??

For those travelling from Sheffield, Snake Pass has been closed this afternoon for an accident, presume it will be open tomorrow but worth checking in the morning

I'm another one who was planning to make the trip to NSS but the weather forecast has been appalling for days and hasn't changed this morning.  Surprised it hasn't been called off already, if it does go ahead I hope it isn't farcical due to conditions.

As ever, depends which forecast you look at. Met Office one isn't too bad currently.

I guess we just have to wait and see

Yes, but only light rain until 1pm.

With a dry day yesterday I'm sure the track can take s substantial amount of rain

I can't see it being cancelled because of the forecast - a different matter if the rain on site is heavier than forecast

We haven’t had heavy rain as of yet and I’m about 5 miles from track.

The weather been perfect last few days here so track would have been prepped for this and as we know we can take alot of water.

im edging towards it being on myself. But the result will be a lottery now

Think it is the lottery result putting me off. Not bothered about spending £50+ to watch follow my leader in the rain just for the sake of it - much as I want to get my first meeting of the season under my belt!

Day time meetings at the NSS are not normally the best anyway, was coming up for this from Leicester, but after attending the fiasco at the real HQ of Speedway, Scunny, on Good Friday I shall not bother with this.

Unfortunately reserves cost us big time today, Heat leaders on both teams all on the pace and mixing it with some good racing. Dan Gilkes looks way off the pace not sure if he’s lost all his confidence with last years injury, Edwards done ok so far mixing it and picking up a few points. See how they go at home. Thought Woffy was standout rider again could he top the averages this year? Bewley, Kurtz and J Holder didn’t score great but all looked fast and provided some action.

8 point deficit isn’t a disaster in all honesty. I think it will be close on aggregate

A few comments, especially on the updates, saying Sheffield's reserves need to get going or they are going to put pressure on the top 5 etc. But that is how the team was built, for the baulk of the scoring to come from the top 5.

As Edwards has a sub 5 Champ average, no more can be expected of him (ideally should be a RS) but Gilkes should be doing better. Did he make a mistake by not racing in the Champ this year?

I think many were mesmerised by the star power of Sheffield's top end & overlooked their weakness at reserve.

All to play for in the second leg. If Bewley had ridden like we all know he can, Aces would already have one foot in the next round.

Early in the season but alarm bells were ringing at Birmingham when it comes to Sheffield.

The team is unbalanced and it's going nowhere this season with those reserves, Gilkes has to get himself fixed up with a Championship club.

track was perfect too perfect in fact. woffy showed his class, but cant see us losing by less than 8 pts. couple of good races but that was it.
