tellboy
Having just watched the GP on tv after having been there on Saturday.I couldn't quite believe how silly Louis and Tatum were after ht 20.It was like only Lambert and Vaculik were the only ones to finish on 9pts.Saying it looks like Lambert has gone as he has lost the head to head with Vaculik.Didnt they think there were any head to heads involving Bewley and Janowski just because they weren't in ht 20.All they had to do was to look in a programme. False dawn
The overriding impression was that the crowd looked pretty good in the stadium but that a lot less people stayed over. In particular it was quiet in the town on Friday evening and there were less fans out and about during the day on Saturday.

glenantony
Nothing sums up this forum like the number of people prepared to come on this thread and tell us how bad Cardiff is and how they will never go! Who cares? Those of us who make a big effort for the weekend seem to love it! My partner and I enjoyed meeting some great speedway fans from up and down the country, enjoyed the racing, couldn't fail to love the result and thoroughly enjoyed the impromptu Q&A with Tai after the event. Thanks Tai! We're also going to Riga & Torun, which will probably cost less together than Cardiff, but it is the only speedway themed weekend in Britain. Posters throughout the city centre, stalls with 'dodgy' merchandise on the Main Street, streets closed for fans - don't remember anything like that in Manchester for the SoN?? It would be great to see two SGPs in Britain but did Belle Vue do themselves any favours with their overpriced tickets, resulting in a big temporary stand looking empty? Again the two of us enjoyed ourselves in Manchester for a weekend, but lets not have a competition for the best - lets get together for both! With that being the only serious alternative maybe the announcement of a date has something to do with that?

Show me a major city without this scenario and other major cities have a bigger problem with these issues, if you check out Wales online you can read all about the homelessness, alcohol and drug abuse as being regular sights on St Mary Street in central Cardiff for example, maybe the GP should be moved from there? Plus a fanzone, plus fireworks. Yet the armchair viewers want to move it to Belle Vue, which they also won't attend because of the ticket prices/hotel prices/weather. Can you imagine a fanzone in manchester city centre? No thanks and I live here

Walshey
I had a great weekend in Cardiff, it isn't what it was but it can be brought back. I can't see anywhere having the same feel as Cardiff, it is special from start to finish. Yes there have been cuts but if people don't attend then who funds the extra activities. From day 1 there have been the people on these forums doing the event down, it a world class event for £20-£30. The only area that needs addressing is the hotel pricing, organisers and council should intervene and sort this out, more people staying for the weekend boosts Cardiff economy and income for organisers. As a second British GP could Odsal be considered?

Because we are led to believe Cardiff is out of contract, the crowds are around 50% down on their peak, all the other big stadium SGP's have gone with the exception of Warsaw, Belle Vue have openly said they're after a GP, WBD gave them the SoN to prove they could stage a GP and it wouldn't be the first time a GP has been announced but then failed to materialise... and there's still no date been announced, which doesn't usually happen. Neila
Are any dates announced for 2025 gp yet ?? Maybe only Warsaw With all this negatively around an previously announced future event, hope discovery don't follow items on here 😜
