Why who was you hoping for

I've not got a problem with WHO was announced. Give the young, returning lad a chance.

I'm just surprised it took them months to announce the final rider when he was one of the more obvious choices... its not like they'd have to negotiate a difficult deal...

This league is all about development and I don't see it as any other.

With all due respect they shouldn’t be ‘negotiating’ any deals !
Promoter. ….this is what’s on offer

Rider … great !

Which is Rob's philosophy all along ....... take it or leave it which applies to any rider for the club, even guests.

Depends on how much said promoter takes the piss... everyone has a value and it should be acknowledged. And if the promoter is going to hand out below value offers he's just going to get rejection after rejection... not saying this is robs philosophy as I have no idea what goes on in the background but...

Is this correct or speculation?. Just asking as I can not see anything on Sheffield or Scunthorpe website or Facebook.

He is on the Official team list on the british speedway site. ( Glasgow asset)

At Least Smith will be number 1 its a lot better than some teams who are trying to develop a 32 year old at reserve

It’s not his fault, but why don’t they make it an U21 NDL it would a bit more credible status.

But, if they did that, then that would rule out anyone switching from grasstrack or moto X who are over 21 but just starting out on the shale.

That's what these amateur meetings and practice days are for, any real talent could adapt to the situation. There's not enough in place to prevent the ndl going further into decline with juniors coming up through the years and missing out on a team place due to teams made up of poor riders.

But surely if a rider coming through the junior ranks isn't good enough to displace a poor established rider.....With the low numbers competing an U21 league would virtually guarantee anyone with a bike a team spot and thats no good for making the standard better.

But this is the whole problem, the standard of the ndl isn't going to get any better, speedway in this country needs to be rethought out because at the moment it's the same year in year out.

No going to disagree with you there. Unfortunately those who run the sport and ultimately run teams in higher leagues cannot see that a higher level in the NDL will generate a higher level across the sport. Instead the NDL was viewed as a competitive viable product and therefore a threat to higher divisions and was dumbed down rather than focussing on developing the product higher up.

Your spot on with this analogy

I'm sure pre-season Lambert suggested, riders would get all their rides, for development etc. but it's looking like Pijper will get 6 rides vs Dicken getting 4. Would have been very easy for Lambert to give them 5 each.

Also, as it's a "development" league, why not use both reserves in traditionally weaker heat 8, rather than giving Championship rider Harrison the easier race?

Remember it's not about winning, it's about development right? So would Harrison not learn more in a tougher race.
