Apparently, B'ham tried to sign several guests but none suitable were available....(if you believe what the Promoters say...) Can only see a very big Ipswich win....20 points plus! 2

I know from reading your posts on here that you tend to view things slightly on the pessimistic side when it comes to Birmingham (a lot justified this year granted!) but that’s a hell of a stretch even for you! absolutely no chance a Freddie led Birmingham get beat by 20+.

brianbuck
What would have been wrong with that? Why would the rider reject the chance of increasing his income by accepting a guest booking and the chance to emphasise that a mistake had been made? No one at Birmingham is happy at a situation which was forced on them by the regulations. One rider had to lose his team place, and someone at the club had no choice but to make what must have been a very difficult decision. I am sorry that Zach turned out to be the choice, but the rules don't allow clubs to have more than seven riders, so who would be the bright spark who could suggest an alternative? 2

Are we talking Zack Cook? Wasn't it like the next day or something? Way to soon after being dropped imho. I know what i would of said, and off would of been used.. GiveusaB
I think Zach must be feeling dejected, especially as there are 2 Poles behind him in the team averages, no doubt costing the club more money!!

They are always saying they need 2 leagues to make any money. Virtually all riders (unless you are one of the select few who can pick and choose meetings) won’t be able to afford such principles. Plus it’s a great chance to showcase his ability now he is available to sign. Seems a win win to me.

gazzac
To me it was stupid of the management to ask him in the first place. No one could win, if he got 12 points, people would say they'd made a mistake sacking him and not Lampart, if he got 0 they'd say he didn't try had the hump and was the right one to go and wouldn't have done him any favours, or heaven forbid he got injured and ruined his chances of another team straight away. I expect most riders would have said no a day after being sacked I would have thought.
StephenMiller
Pawlicki has got to go surely? Signed as a number 1, now averaging 4.4 and scores 3 points at reserve…
IainB
You reached the cup semi finals! I'd count that as a good season
siggysigalos
Positives for the Brummies last night in Lindgren needed no time to settle and Tom Brennan and Viktor Lampart also looked quick. I think you obviously lost the Semi Final at Home on Monday,8 points up and fail to take a lead was worrying for the Birmingham boys. But last night at Reserve for me was your huge problem,Leon Flint tried hard, but just didn't get involved in enough races, but I agree,Pawlicki looked woeful,I praised him up on Monday, and to be fair said to some Brummie Supporters I think it will be Zack Cook that goes, but don't know if that was the correct decision. Trouble is who is out there for you to bin Pawlicki, hope it gets sorted,as enjoyed my 2 visits to Birmingham this season. Good Club, great Supporters.

I've made my feelings known on the RS system elsewhere but it'd be interesting to know what the overall combined average is of the RS season on season... one for the anoraks. You'd hope it'd be about the same or marginally increase year on year, I do feel many of them are well out of their depth this season though. I can't remember the Kings Lynn/Belle Vue ones ? Or the one at Perry Barr v Ipswich (League match) ?

I agree that Leon is proving to be a bit of a disappointment this year. I hope it's a temporary dip in form and that he will resume his upward development in due course. I don't like making comparisons but in this case I will. Dan Thompson has been making steady progress for several seasons. He has clearly found a happy home at Ipswich and has made the next step. It is obvious (to me anyway) that any youngster entering the Rising Star system is going to find himself in a very daunting environment. They are going to need constant help with set ups, riding technique and ongoing help to maintain their confidence. This ain't a case of putting a lad (or lass) in the number 7 position in a top flight team and assuming just because they are there, that they'll make progress. Without constant mentoring they are likely to go backwards (metaphorically speaking).
