When will these promotors ever learn? Before a wheel has even been turned, they serve up an absolute crap team and already threatening the “if fans don’t turn up every week, then we won’t be racing next year” line. Who had that on their bingo card before the end of March?

No. Because he’s not in Birmingham’s 1-7

He's been replaced by Nicholls as an injury replacement so there's no ban that is appropriate

If he starts riding in Poland but not in Birmingham then that's a different matter

Zielona Gora practised in Poland today, minus Piotr Pawlicki who didn’t take part

Based on those words he might as well sell up now and give the club to people who are are actually going to fight to improve the club. Looking at it there’s actually a lot of improve that can be made with small changes. If someone with drive and ambition came in (similar to Leicester/ Workington) you’d see a world of difference.

That’s not how I read the press release which makes no reference to injury replacement. This included the following: “Therefore, we had to sign another rider who will go into our declared 1-7 ahead of our first meeting in a few days’ time.”

Dont see the issue, Pawlicki hasnt ridden yet so its a new 1-7, when he is fit Birmingham can re-declare.

Heard it all before ,Rogers/Mallet/Newport, how did all that end, spent a fortune on super team ( Doyle/Gjedde etc.) won KO cup, over spent, expected crowds to increase, they did not, how did that end ?

Steve Mallett

“To have only 401 for a meeting with our nearest rivals was a huge disappointment and people must realise that we, and I include all my family, cannot go on losing any more money.”

16th September

Steve Mallett

“We have been advised time and again that speedway fans will only turn up en-mass to follow a winning side, so we dug deep into our financial pot and produced one which has won 13 and drawn another in its last 17 league and cup fixtures. But crowd sizes remain below what they should be and we really have reached the stage now that it’s make or break for local speedway followers. I really am urging fans who occasionally to come to watch to unite in a show of strength for Saturday night, without doubt the biggest meeting in our time here.”

But the vast majority have been closed down due to landlords accepting the big bucks from people who want to build houses. How many of those defunct tracks have now got houses on them or will have very soon.  Very few close down due to lack of support. i actually think Speedway is on the way up actually.   The crowds at meetings last year, granted in the Premiership, were fantastic most of the time and the enthusiasm from fans (apart from the usual moaners) was second to none.

Oh I agree on the lack of support point. It’s those that buy the land that claim it’s ‘unviable’ as an ongoing concern as a suitable and convenient argument.

Speedway will always remain a very niche sport (in the UK) until some marketing giant can breathe new life into it.

That said it’s still one of the most exhilarating sports in the world.

With land becoming more and more of a premium there will be more promoters that will sell for the right price sadly.

2 weeks away - and it’s already been said that Piotr Pawlicki will mark a decision nearer the time if he rides in that or not.
