Not lost on me. UK speedway has plenty of issues but this isn't really the place to discuss those

It was merely an observation but why does everyone take it so seriously. As a sport it can entertain but frankly each country has its issue and the UK is not exempt. Someone pointed out that at this level of international speedway something was stupid. At a lower level which can be UK speedway the descriptive term of stupid can also apply. It was simply concurring and as simple as that. WTF is the issue with forum contributors when someone makes a general comment. No wonder the sport is in dire straits, crap promoters and overly sensitive followers.

What has Russia done wrong ? Oh yeah sent a cruise missile into a kids hospital

Daniil Medvedev has played and won at Wimbledon today.  What's the difference with Sayfutdinov & Laguta etc.  Tarasenko and Emil ride over here.  Seems ok to ride in league matches but not international.  A bit hypocritical if I'm honest.  They don't stop being Russian in the league.  Appreciate they'd have to ride under a blank flag with no anthems etc.

What is the view and facilities like over there?

View is fine, not affected by podium in centre green and a decent view of big screen.

Facilities are basic to say the least, only nod to a potential large crowd seems to be addition of 7 portaloos.. Catering is woefull however, just one small hatch serving beer, burgers and softdrinks, staffed by a very inexperienced team.  Managed tonight but if anything approaching even a normal league match attendance on Saturday it will be chaos!

Thanks for the advice. The bar queues at Wroclaw were terrible for the SWC.

It was a decent meeting and enjoyable.Difficult to say if pricing affected attendances for qualifiers.Basically your relying on British fans boosting the numbers for them.

The price stopped me and my family from going

As a side note everyone was body frisked on the way in, open bottles etc not allowed in the stadium

Is that the size of the crowd that was expected

I would have said so...

Many predicted it..

Bartek riding there I presume made those in charge of the event think that it would stimulate some interest..

However. You get to see him ride every week on Polish TV, and once a fortnight in the GP's, so hardly any "mystique"...

Too many meetings in one place means not many will visit from elsewhere for all four due to the overall costs, and to expect Aces fans to fork out for 4 meetings is folly...

Wroclaw had the same issue with a lack of crowd for the qualifiers...

Should be two meetings, one final over two days...

Charge £60 for both days, £35 for one..

I reckon 6,000 or so would have paid sixty quid...

And only one night in a hotel if travelling from elsewhere..

Some decent marketing would have helped though...

Did all the money go on a stand that won't get used till Saturday?

I wasn't frisked and I had an open bottle visible in my pocket which I was allowed to take in.

I do enjoy these qualifiers, it’s riders we don’t get to see a lot of,although there were no surprises it was I thought an enjoyable meeting I just wish they could get a crowd in to see it

Can't see Wed semi final being as well supported as this evening.  No Poland support and England in the Euro's.

This has always been the issue in the SoN.

Last time at the SoN in Manchester the standing areas had additional catering behind the stand. The Grandstand always struggles to cope - British Final a couple of years back it ran out of food and beer.

The sooner they bring back the 4 or 5 man sides the better. Never seen the appeal in this format, its horrendous.

I am told the FIM are shocked at the ticket sales.

One committee member has blamed the failure of the event on the lack of star riders.

The SWC used to have the likes of Gollob, Crump, Ward, Nicki, Hancock, Jonsson, Hampel and Andersen.

Expect Emil and Artem to be back in next year. The fans want to watch Team Russia!

Are you thick? Seriously?

Please don't give them the attention the crave, they make quite a successful job in getting people to bite but they are best left ignored.

Decent enough meeting, especially giving the amount of rain earlier in the day. Glad to see all the riders walk away from their accident, inparicular Thorsell and Melynchuk who seemed to miss the air fence from where I was.

And onto today.
