Leicester Lions 2024

Recommended Posts

First time I’ve seen Leicester this season but I would have said Becker was the biggest issue in that side, only 5 points at home from a guy people are clambering over to be in the GPs isn’t a great return when the scoreline made the home side look so dominant.

Cook was only ever a temporary injury cover for Kerr, so as soon as Kerr was fit again, Cook became a 'free agent'!

I bet he would still be there if he'd carried on his debut double figure performance

That’s almost a certainty. One match wonder tho so far.

Kemp was always vulnerable with the RS scheme operating as it does in the PL  - he's a victim of that rather than of Leicester having to make hard decisions. Hope the RS will be altered for next season but unfortunately we're stuck with it now.

Pressure now on Cook to provide options for the team manager especially on away tracks. Hope that he's up to it and the speedway gods give him a better time this year (or is Stewart Dickson going to play God?!)

Kemp's fate was sealed after he ended up in Jake Mulford's pocket around Sheffield imo.

Craig Cook for Drew Kemp should ensure that Leicester finish 4th now as Cookie will give them a bit extra at reserve when it comes to away meetings.

Fully disagree with the way young riders just get replaced due the numbers. From just a paper based, number point of view I get it though. Sign a rider with a 25% reduction at the start of the year then sign a more experienced one later on and you basically get another point to play with (2 points in this case).

But from a real life point of view, I thought Drew was part of Leicester with his relationship with the Leicester sponsors etc, you won’t get that if you keep changing your team, that relationship between fans and riders won’t be there because the team keeps changing and on track riders like Drew will stop team riding and feel the need to shove their teammate out of the way on the first bend in heat 2 to keep their place. Sure things with be interesting in the Berwick pits now with the team manager there mind you..

That's exactly what Kemp did in heat 2 last night.

Drew was given enough time to get a grip imo.

The No.6 has to score at least half a dozen every meeting because the top 5 and RS cant put up 40 points every week.

It’s a brave move by Dickson judging by some of those hilarious comments on the Leicester FB page.

I’m sure he knows best, and if Cookie continues his electric gating it will be a massive upgrade at reserve on a rider like Kemp, both home and away on the mainly slick tracks in the Premiership.

Team riding? I must have missed that.

True ..and Drew is only really  good enough  for R.S berth ..He doesnt score enough  points to be at number  6..

The last 3 Leicester away meetings, I've thought the home team was either struggling with injuries or looked weak, yet Leicester can't seem to take advantage of this?

I know the match isn't over, but with Kerr perhaps not fully fit, Masters on his "home track" and Cook at reserve, I expected far more from Leicester.

Peter Schroeck trying his best for Leicester as well by putting Riss out instead of Boughen in heat 12.

I'm not sure I understand that logic, the number 6 has to score well because the top 5 aren't? Is that not a fault with the top 5, wouldn't you look to replace one of them, rather than the number 6.

Regardless, Cook is an improvement on Kemp, so was a sensible signing imo. Harsh on Drew who had done nothing wrong, but that's just sport really.
