I agree hanging on to get a suitable rider at the price you can afford could back fire, I hope it hasnt at this late stage.

Unfortunately as said in recent interviews with Steve lawson,  when Workington were accepted into the league at a late stage, mid November after promoter's conference,  most teams were already signed up, thus leaving the comets having to think out of the box to sign a team, so far the team looks good, but the last signing seems to be a sticking point, not helped now that Redcar have a similar average to fill

Thinking from the other side of the argument there is now a group of riders without a club for 2024 who you would think want to ride so there may be a good deal to be struck.

Would think some of these riders will have been approached,  but for one reason or another probably don't fancy a journey to deepest Cumbria

Have heard that the last signing is still to be nailed down,  can we open talks with the higher authorities to get Dan in on a 5     if its good enuf  for Glasgow surely we can have special dispensation :D

James Wright could certainly do a job, especially in a watered down league.

I know there was talks with Hans Anderson but he has announced he is retiring from the sport.

Glasgow didn't need special dispensation, they didn't do anything wrong, I think that particular loophole has been filled, a bit like Robert Lambert just riding in the play offs, it is the rules that are wrong.

Just stating facts :D

Fact Tarasenko was available to everyone in the Championship, it was within the rules. Birmingham tried to sign him.

Glasgow actual tried to sign Peterborough's other Pole Patryk Wojdylo but then it was found that he didn't even have the right visa to ride for Peterborough. So they then enquired about Tarasenko and because his Polish team had not made the playoffs he agreed to ride for Glasgow.

Glasgow probably were willing to pay more than Birmingham as the Brummies were always looking for the cheaper options . Tarasenko was a massive upgrade for Glasgow but to have a rule that the same average is used for two leagues of different standards is crazy but fair play they knew the rule and exploited it.

Can't see why a rider hasn't been signed by now.  Seems a risky strategy. Now it is more risky as Redcar need a rider on a similar average.

No hurry, for Comets or Bears.

In 2013, Edinburgh didn't sign their third heat-leader until after the BenFund meeting, a week before they opened - - and still made it to the Grand Final!

He was called Claus Vissing, as l recall....

We didn’t have dispensation. We followed the rules. The rules will say Dan’s on an average of about 12, or more. By all means sign him though!

I'm sure Edinburgh had planned to use Sam Masters, was there a late visa issue? This led to the last minute signing of Vissing.

Fans aren't so used to that happening now, hence the worry / panic by some

Thats some intelligent additive that you put it in a tank of fuel and it knows to work at its maximum effect at the startline.

allegedly not put into the tank but small piece of foam dipped/sprayed and attached to the air filter. max effect off the startline and nothing in the tank to show if it was checked.....allegedly
