I'm starting to think they should of stayed in the ndl

Of course they should, that was the plan as the stadium developed.  But the Wolves/Panthers closures forced a consolidation of tracks and l suspect a great deal of pressure was put on the new Comets to move up 'in the best interests of the sport'.

Which it most probably is, just that the promotion are now finding it tough to adjust, and put together a team to match their budget while holding their own on track.

What would have happened (to the Comets) if the promotion had refused to go in the Championship, especially when we know that there is now an NDL in 2024?

And, was there any compensation given to them for the extra costs incurred from moving up before they really wanted to?

At the time the decision was made to move up, the NDL did not exist,  and people were lead to believe that it would not exist,  so it was either move up or run practice sessions,  then weeks later the bspa once again moved the goalposts, running a NDL league, now it appears the comets are struggling to get a team sorted, unless the team is nearly sorted and the promotion are just putting the last piece into the jigsaw puzzle

Craig Cook Batch, Z Kennedy, Spencer, Simpson, C King, J Thomas, F Bowes, J, Smith, A Rowe, Ablitt, Clegg, Bickley, Stonemen, Neilsen, Sedgmen, J Wright, Pearson, Riss, Anderson are just a few Workington can go for. Slim pickings for heat leaders but I'm sure a few will fancy riding Workington.

Could Wojdylo sign for a championship club?

I think the goal may have been for a third tier with no standalone clubs for a while. Arguably that has cost the sport Mildenhall and Kent as tracks and forced Workington to move up. Ironically the lowering of the points limit and stricter doubling up rules in the third tier could have made things more viable for those clubs and the likes of Buxton and the Isle of Wight. It would have opened up more team spots for young riders too.

Shame about the clubs lack of social media information. Heard nothing for weeks and the fans are getting worried. I think with the low points limit the riders know they are needed and this makes for higher wages as they negotiate high wages against different clubs. Hope the business plan for the Comets can sustain this massive jump to championship level money.

Supersteady84....we werent given the OPTION of staying in the NDL !!    At the time we were approached to ride in the Championship, the BSPA or powers to be, told the club that the NDL as such, is being ABANDONED !   So we had the "choice" of not running a team at all, or joining the championship, with all its additional costs. Some choice !

Then "AMAZINGLY"....after we had agreed to join the championship, the powers that be suddenly reinstated the NDL !   Now isnt that just more than a little bit "odd" ???

Don’t write Workington off just yet as more and more teams fill up there’ll be riders available and chances are they could end up at your place. I’m fairly sure they wouldn’t have moved up if they knew they couldn’t track a competitive team imo.

The N D L: is now only made up of Premiership and Championship 2nd teams and is going to be at a lower level than when other tracks were involved.

Poor from the promotion no news for the fans... They are asking what are you waiting for with buying season tickets...

Meanwhile both nice to see both of our promoters are busy at Leicester sorting their track..

Think there is a rabbit off somewhere...

VERY POOR

Wow! Nice bit of positivity here. Have a bit of faith!

Facebook post says signing No 2 at 5pm 2morrow

Its normally a 2 minute warning, not 2 hours!

Been a long wait for Comets fans, feel the lack of even a statement from the club these last few weeks has added to the uncertainty (just an outsiders view).

Hopefully a competitive team can still be sorted.
