Sheffield ride their 18th league match (75% marker) of the season on 1st August, can they really afford to wait for Woffinden? He’s not going to ride until Cardiff and even if he did ride prior I imagine Wroclaw will have first dibs on his services possibly the weekend prior to Cardiff and if that doesn’t go to plan for him that’s R/R and guests for the rest of the season and we’ve seen how that hasn’t worked recently.
Surely if there’s anyone out there (Musielak, Lambert, both have good relations with the club) that can ride from next week/week afters fixtures before we hit that 75% threshold they need to come in.  Gone are the days of Woffinden bringing in additional 10’s of fans to Owlerton (away meetings possibly) and a new face might just bring that team spirit spark back which hasn’t been there this season.

You have to wonder whether internal talks between the clubs on the 75% rule should be scrapped. There’s currently 3 clubs missing a top heatleader and struggling to replace them. Ipswich for example, have known since the end of May that Doyle was out for the season and I know for a fact they’ve tried every top line rider out there without success. They’ve been close a couple of times, but ultimately couldn’t get them over the line. Sheffield and now Lynn are now having the same issues. My understanding is that there are a couple that would be willing to come, but not before clubs reach their 75% cut off. Let’s see if this “rule” stays in place.

Lambert has been asked and already said no, also sounds like BSPA putting a blocker on Tobi so presumably also a no go.

It was always going to be about him DJ’ing. That’s his priority these days.

So his major announcement was that he hopes to be back for Cardiff and he`s going to play some records.

I can understand the logic of the BSPL saying to Musielak, you can't say you have to leave Lynn because you are injured, then all of a sudden say you're fit when another club needs you. But at the same time if it's ok for clubs to drop riders, why can't riders "drop" clubs?

Redcar have been told they can't sign a replacement for Bailey, do have to use guests for the rest of the season.

This is where the rule is stupid, it was brought on to stop riders, signing just for the play-offs, but did they consider the consequences - injured / retiring riders not being able to be replaced.

It was an entirely predictable outcome. Whether we agree with Belle Vue signing Lambert to replace the injured Fricke is down to personal views. However, there was such an outcry that SCB changed the rules - and now we have the current position. Sometimes speedway reaps what it sows.

It was always going to change because they knew it was wrong allowing Lambert to sign just for the play offs.

That's a matter of opinion.

Now we have the consequence that a number of teams are entering the last portion of the season, including the playoffs,  where using guests is inevitable even if other riders may be available to replace genuinely injured riders.

Must admit, it doesn’t sit right with me when people make hay due to the misfortune of others. That’s across the board and not just speedway. That undercurrent of glee when a team is hit by injury as opposing fans see their chances of success increase is abhorrent to me, old fashioned I know and very much in the minority on here.

The “Tai” rule (apparently) needs to be in place to do what it was set out to do - stop unscrupulous clubs signing ringers for the play offs - but it should NOT impact clubs with genuine long term injury woes.

I’d much rather come up against the Witches or Tigers with Bartoz as a full team member than the current preferred system of guests, guests, guests, especially at the time of year when the media takes a greater interest in the sport.

Couple of questions.

Is Woffy returning this year?

What happened to the NDL match against Belle Vue. Didn't get ridden on the scheduled date and no longer on the fixture list?

Thanks

Woffy has said he will try and be back for Cardiff so will be using R/R and guests for next couple of weeks at least until it’s certain if he can overcome his injury.

the BV fixture is to be scheduled still I believe

Didn't know Sheffield were in the NFL lol!

But there's plenty of NDL matches still to be arranged, nearly every club in the league has a fixture to be announced. That division will get ignored as long as the main club is still got a chance of play-offs etc. Probably expected the NDL to be busy in October.

And yet Oxford running three teams in three leagues will have completed their NDL home programme in August and are ahead of almost every team in the Prem and Championship in terms of home matches ridden

I had no problem with Belle Vue signing Lambert.

I did have a problem when Belle Vue said  Lambert was injured so he didn't race in a league meeting after the play offs (making it look dodgy).

That doesn't matter to me.

It looks like he was signed only for the play offs with him missing the league match,  hence me changing my opinion on the signing.

a meaningless meeting after the play/offs had been won !! if chapman hadn't played his usual games when he cancelled the meeting on a perfectly dry day due to rain forecast which prooved pathetic back fired on him which has been prooved even more pathetic this season   !!

off course it was for the play/offs there was only the kings lynn fixture outstanding from league matches which chapman cancelled on a pathetic wrong weather forecast which never  came !! and Lambert only rode in 3 play/off meetings !!
