2024 team building averages

I dont think much will change next season as the promoters are unable to think creatively

Prem will be 6 teams with either Oxford or Birmingham moving up.

Championship will be Berwick, Edinburgh, Poole, Glasgow, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Plymouth, and can see Workington moving up so 9 sides

What happens to the NDL and Mildenhall/Kent remains to be seen...

Dont see the points limits changing either but some odd tweaks to some odd rules that will be picked apart during that season

I think both will personally.

Birmingham can't sustain top league speedway other than by sponsorship income or promoters funds so why do it? Oxford have three low averaged youngsters,Killen,Atkinson and boughen which would be a good base for a championship team, especially if team limit was reduced by a point or two,tho wouldn't expect any of them to be so effective in premier league.probably my earliest post, sat in queue at donny for  bsb!!

2022 it was 42, 2023 its 40 so I'm guessing we're waiting on the rolling of the chicken bones for 24

They'll lower the average but increase admission as usual

If they go lower, I've been seeing 36 banded around, then you will decimate the teams we have now.

Just to give you some reasoning behind it.

The Average team #1 this year is 8.74. The average #5 or second highest averaged rider would be on a 7.86. That leaves 19.4 to build the remaining 5 riders.

That would be 2 X 2 pointers at reserve and  3x5 pointers to fill your other heat leader and 2nd string slots.

FYI Poole fans Ben Cook's on 7.39 and Zach Cooks on 6.22.

In fact if they do go with 36 which is completely idiotic, riders with an average between 5 and 8 are probably going to be struggling to get a ride(theres 12 of them).

So 1 or 2 clubs will need to move up. Sure Eurosport said there needs to be at least 6 for them to cover it a few years ago. Unless they have changed their minds.

So who is going to draw the shortest straw?

I don't think that was Eurosport, think that was Pete Adams, saying they didn't want to run in a league with only 6 teams in it.

Pretty sure Eurosport said it before that a few years ago. But not sure if they are of the same opinion any more.

If Brum are riding on a Monday, I wonder if there will be some restrictions on doubling up. Like your average has to be under 7.5. So people like Dougie, Masters, Harris etc can't do it.

It's more of an opposite, if you want to keep your Harris' Masters' Kings, Wright's Lawson's and Worrals then the rest of the team will be massively reduced in strength.

But again will have to see what they promoters come up with in Tenerife, if it's 36 points will fans be happy to pay £20 a ticket to see an incredibly diluted product.

From 2022-2023 they dropped it by two points and virtually every team took a two pointer #7, if it drops from that by another 4 points God help us.

36 points would be an absolute nonsense imo. Championship been getting diluted for last 2 years because the top league is weaker. Limit teams to 1 8 plus rider or make masters Dougie etc ineligible. Go back to 2 home and 2 away meetings, gives the riders plenty matches without the need to double up. Diluting the sport 10% and asking us mug punters pay the same if not more, na not a chance

Maybe the two with the most ambition, who may not see it as a short straw? Perhaps they are keen to see the biggest names who ride on these shores at their circuit.

There is also the whisper that the Polish 3rd tier league will be 'Poles only' which may restrict some younger riders of all nationalities developing their skills abroad?!

All I've seen is a reversion to Poles only at reserve. Where have you seen it suggested that all foreigners will be ditched?

Wasn't it CVS, when Wolves threatened to close down, coming out if Covid?

On the other bit, Eurisport are now such a minor part of discovery+/Warner/TNT that their views would be no longer relevant, it' ll be for the bigger dogs to chew over.....

I think the limit should be 40 or 39 to build a bigger gap between Prem & Champ and most importantly lessen the gap between Champ & NL.

However if the NL disappears with Mildenhall & Workington stepping up, think it would have to be even lower so the strength is half way between Champ & NL level.

If the likes of Oxford, Poole & Glasgow want to sign top riders, they'll have to move up a league
