RYE HOUSE

Recommended Posts

The Lee Valley Park Authority(own the land) have written to the leaseholders (Carter + Bailey) requesting that they address matters at the site & the lease obligations after the failed planning application.

How Musk and his cowboys have got away with it for so long is a disgrace.

The noose is tightening what with the council & LVPA now not happy with them.

The best chance of a return is the LVPA as Musk has surely bought them into disrepute with his numerous instances of breaking planning laws at the site.

The BSPA should be onto the LVPA offering up a promoter to take on the rights

Aside from the demands for punitive fines to be dished out to  all and sundry for breaking planning laws, etc etc.,  oh and fining Len Silver for selling the club to BMR !!! After the blame game has ceased is there really any possibility that some magic fairy will instruct anyone anytime soon to reinstall a speedway track on he site at Hoddesdon ?  Almost as much chance one thinks as an alternative Lakeside venue being resurrected by teh developers backed by teh bankrupt Thurrock Council. OR the Swindon track being reinstated 5 yards from the back gardens of the new des res housing developements.

Let us not forget the hand that BSPL dealt to the enthusiastive new Rye House owners BMR by chopping of their prime time Saturday evening racing slot in the PL. Seems to be all too conveniently forgotten that little nugget.

Chapman & Godfrey the pair of clowns in charge of the BSPL at that time have to take a large amount of responsibility. Comical to hear Godfrey say he'll do what he can to get Rye back! You played a huge part in the club shutting you clown.

Think Rye are in a better position than  Arena or Swindon. The LVPA own the land not the twats(Ricky Musk & Kevin O'Malley) who ripped the track out & broke planning laws.

The LVPA will be the one who eventually will decide the future of Rye. I'm sure their not happy that a tenant has broken planning laws on their land. The lease also says speedway & greyhounds need to be included on the site I believe. They have written to the tenants demanding some answers according to the Rye House Action Group.

The council have done what they can refusing planning permission & taking enforcement action. They can't force the tenant to run speedway.

The BSPL should be all over the LVPA saying we have a promoter ready to go in ASAP. The infrastructure & planning permission are already in place. I have no faith in them though.

It's a wait & see. I think the first half of the year will see whether there is any future for Rye.

Article on BBC about the latest

A nice picture of the kart track with a negative headline won't do any harm

Usual nothing response from the LVPA and EHDC though, but at least they know the BBC are interested so pressure being put on

Keeps Speedway and stadia in the news,  can’t do any harm as you say especially with the other publicity this week

Not sure what the kart track has to do with the speedway stadium - different stadiums with different leaseholders aren't they?

Was racing at the kart track last year so was able to take a look at the speedway track. The stadium itself still seems to be quite good condition, but the track seems to have been buried under tons of soil that has been dumped there. It's possible it may be relatively intact underneath if it were all dug out - difficult to tell.

They have put in for retrospective planning on the spectator stand that they turned into a gymnastics centre. They lied in 2020 and said the size of the building hadn't changed so didn't need to apply for planning permission.

They stuck a huge extension on the end as a viewing area

They are currently being investigated by East Herts District Council planning enforcement for this breach and others

It sums up the state of planning in this country that you can put in for retrospective planning just when the investigation for the breach is coming to an end

In the overall scheme of things, it doesn't mean a great deal. The area of the track is where it matters. How long can they keep a white elephant after paying out a tidy sum for the lease?
