*JJ
According to the Express & Star newspaper, a consortium has been set up to try to revive the Heathens, and have secured the backing of Dudley Council, with four possible sites. They have £300,000 to finance the track. One of the consortium is Geoff Collins, owner of CovComp, who runs the spares van at Perry Barr. That's good news and hopefully something positive may come out of it?
Deano
I can’t believe Cradley has been closed longer than the Brummies were!

The Heathens were the jewel in the crown of British speedway and Dudley council have ignored that fact for nigh on 30 years. Crazy.

THE DEAN MACHINE
Cradley’s biggest problem is an obvious one, the lack of land available in the Cradley /Dudley area, I have seen first hand the efforts to secure some land to put a track but you would be surprised how much land is owned by the church and they are not interested in putting a speedway track on any of it, there has been a few glimmers of hope over the last year or so but they have ultimately come to nothing but the search goes on, hopefully one site will be the breakthrough, the will is there
*JJ
I spoke to Geoff Collins a couple of weeks ago about this; he just grinned and said, 'Irons in the fire'.
Gert Handbag
This is such fantastic news, fingers crossed. Whilst there are many Cradley legends, if this does happen could we have a match with Wolves for the Nigel Pearson trophy?

It could be that the Cradley track will be the home of "Wolves". as they don't exist anymore.

So, what's he found that local lads Pearson (RIP) Patchett and CVS never found in their 3 years of looking?

Geoff probably looked a lot harder and more seriously than they did at times. Whilst Cradley were using Monmore and getting decent Crowds the intensity of the search most likely subsided. CVS had his hands full, Pearson had his hands full as for Patchett who knows? Edited November 6, 2023 by HGould Spelling
