Berwick 2024

The thing is, Berwick can make changes and bring in two new riders, with the two injured guys -- neither seemingly likely to be fit again this year -- being replaced without disturbing the others.

Which action might freshen up the squad for the last half-dozen matches.

It might also be time to give Freddy Hodder -- who has real talent and will come again -- a rest, as his sad string of zeros must be draining his confidence.

Jason Garrad got stuck in over the weekend, didn't he?

Who? (Asking for a friend! LOL)

Whilst not denigrating Jason`s efforts last night, its worth considering that he was gifted his third place in Heat 7 and when giving a helping hand for his second place in Heat 2 after the two Glasgow riders got in each others way in turn one of lap one. Honestly, I don`t see him as much of an improvement on Hodder, but you are correct in pointing out that it may do Hodder some good by taking him out of the team as his confidence must be rock bottom at the minute.

Freddie Hodder was an unused reserve for Team GB today in the European Junior Championship in Pila, the meeting was won by Poland but there was a creditable 3rd place the Team GB behind Team Seden who came second.

Garrod is certainly no improvement on Hodder.

Garrad has a higher NL average than Hodder. But as Hodder is younger may be the better long term prospect, but if he's not your asset, should pick the stronger rider now imo.

Hodder is almost 20 years younger. Yes Garrad has a better current NDL average but Oxford have raced most of the poor teams thus far and had more home fixtures etc. Garrad is willing to put it about but thats mostly desperation rather than ability.

Busy couple of days coming up for Freddie Hodder, tomorrow he races for his Polish club Torun in their away match at Krosno, before taking his place on Wednesday night in the NDLRC at Poole where he will race in the No11 position.

Was wondering as Freddy hasn't featured for Torun since April

And he still hasn't, Torun had no rider at No1 in their meeting with Krosno which they lost 60-30.

Poland 1st, Sweden 2nd, Denmark 3rd, GB 4th.

there was a run-off for 3rd involving Denmark, GB, and Czecho

Freddy won't be at Poole tonight

News from the Premiership and Lewis Kerr has been relieved of his team place in the Oxford team, he will be replaced by Berwick team mate Drew Kemp.

Lewi doesn’t have his troubles to seek.Injury prone if you read his article in SS.More injuries this season doesn’t help .

Hardly surprising since returning from injury not riding as well now even at Berwick

Tough gig for Kerr riding at number one all season as well, a position he hasn't really held anywhere else previously.

Yes, but the difference in his scores in the 2 matches this season ( against Glasgow)13 + 1 in the first and only 5 in the second shows he's no where in the same form after injury.

You can cross Jason Garrad off the list as he has signed for Glasgow.
