thebaron
Pleased with the team we have assembled within a 38pt limit. Bringing back the core of "the Class of 23" makes sense to me. They know the Scunny set up and there will be very little need for adjustment to it. We were never replacing Dougy, but Kyle Howarth knows Scunny, is the Capt of Premier League Sheffield. So we are adding bags of track know how(e) - excuse pun and a "leader" Connor and Nathan are capable of pushing on in a league slightly trimmed down for 2024. In Jake, MPT, and Lambo (Cpt Fantastic) we have three heat leaders. Luke Harrison has the time to go as far as he can in a debut season. So anything is a bonus. I think ws have a team to get behind I trust the riders and the management to serve up the entertanment again next season. Bring it on. Personally Mountain and Ablitt did not do enough to warrant re signing, but I hope they kick on in the new season and prove me wrong. If Lambo gets to number 1 ,super fan Scunny Dan will be ecstatic! Certainly have to disagree re Ablitt. Upped his average from below 2.00 to 3.00 riding in the tougher reserve position (6). Think he did very well last year. Can understand an argument against Mountain, who scored fantastically well at number 7, but wasn't great in the top 5.

Poole dont look stronger than Scunny though… Lawson over Howarth cook, cook, Brennan vs Allen, MPT, Lambo isnt really much in it but id take Scunnys bottom 3 over Pooles everyday

Last season's side perhaps but I think it looks very competitive, I'd have them down for 4th or 5th just behind Poole personally. And probably unbeaten at home. 25 minutes ago, Bagpuss said: My thoughts are Redcar, Oxford, Scunny, Poole and then Glasgow as a top five in that order with the other four as also rans in terms of the Play Offs. Make up your mind. So we have Scunny being 4th or 5th and now 3rd. Will they be top tomorrow? 1

Yep the more I've thought about it today the more I like Scunny, but they aren't going above Oxford or Redcar

Not sure Poole do have the best top 4…. They have the best 4th averaged rider in Z Cook but as a 4 i think Redcars is there and id take there bottom 3 over Pooles… Thomsen is the worst rider in a top 5 across the league

thebaron
Each to their own views but I do like the team and looking forward to watching us on track. I was really "invested" in the Scorpions in 2023 as riders, their character and technique. I think that "connection" is important it helps bring the fanbase closer to the Club. We know that Speedway can and will throw in a few changes along the way. But if we have some continuity and prepared to keep faith with it injury permitting. It can go a long way to forging the bond between the fans and the sport. Roll on March 2024 folks.

Can I ask why? Seems a bit of an odd thing to say when Ablitt averaged more in both leagues.

Were we ever in for Hagon ? because I never thought we were. He did go well at the EWR in one meet last season granted. I am fine with Ablitt who definitely made some progress last season. Hagon has the backing from his motorcycle family and could make real strides next season. The pull was Poole as well which I can see. Fozzie4388
If Howarth, Palm Toft and Allen can find some consistency this team will be fine but all 3 are likely to beat the opposition number 1 then come out in the next race and lose to an opposition reserve. Should think they'll win most home meetings but they'll take some batterings when they travel imo

No i don't think you were but I wasn't saying you should have got him instead of Ablitt, fully understandable you got Nathan as he rode for last season. IronScorpion
I think our 3 heat leaders are capable of scoring 8-10 points per meeting whether it be from 4, 5 or even 6 rides. Our engine room, 2nd strings, are stronger than most others & our reserves will hold their own in a weaker(38 point limit) starting point. It will be about who gains the most momentum to get their team to a 41/42 point average in the BSN Series(NOT CMA average but points scored in 2024). Fromafar
I like Poole and Redcar top 4 ( providing Wright and Jorgensen get over their injuries which is question mark IMO).Very unpredictable League with so many newcomers in bottom end positions.
