daz9100
Well that was a bit of a surprise, wasn't expecting that after losing Anders in H1. I guess it fired up them more. Great performance from Joe too.

I am well know for being pessimistic and after last Wednesday and the abysmal performance I thought the weighting was on the wall. So happy to be proved wrong. Now we mustn’t mess it up at Edinburgh. You pessimistic surely not Steve!!
Wee Eck
Top of the league and, so far, top of the mini league despite a sluggish start at home, an enforced late change of team manager and the loss of a rider in heat one. Edinburgh now become the next potential banana skin for Shovlar to worry about

LisaColette
Great result and great racing too. Not through yet though as if you can't get meetings done by end of Sept looks like away team gets the points going by what Ian Brannan was saying tonight. Steve Shovlar
First of all, I think I speak for all speedway fans no matter what club they support when hoping Anders Rowe is going to be OK and able to continue his impressive season. It was a nasty fall after being bashed off his bike by Mountain and the ref made a terrible call. With no IRR the situation looked bad for Pirates but both Newman, with a special mention to Joe Thompson, paid 10, dug deep. Zack returned to form at 4 with paid 10 beating Douglas and only Ben slightly struggled tonight but even he was getting stuck right in. Our top two were excellent. As Steve Worrall has just said, the injury to Anders fired the team up even more. A completely different look to their faces as they stood around after the meeting at WR looking forlorn. He said the teams has a great team spirit and it showed tonight. For Scunthorpe Douglas was good but not as good as he is around Poole. But he had no real back up. Palm Toft faded and then made a howler by rolling twice. Lambert started well but when Cook came charging under him he bailed out. I thought for a moment the ref would excluded Ben Cook but he called it right, no contact just hard racing. Allen was unlucky blowing up his bike. I watched the Scunthorpe v Glasgow meeting and Ablitt was terrific. Tonight we dealt with him with relative ease. As for Kemp. The reason Scunthorpe drew at Poole but tonight he was very poor. Completely went missing when he was needed. Some great racing on an excellent race track. Worth watching back. And looking forward to visiting for the KO Cup Final should Scunthorpe make it through.

Very friendly and chatty pre meetings. Good gater, just needs to build himself up a bit and be tougher on track.

Oxford please so we can all go. No other reason. Glasgow too far to attend. Should be a classic battle between those two to get to the final. lbw
Looking at the table 1sr PIRATES raced 2 PTS 5..........2nd Scunthorpe raced 3 PTS 3 My calculation is PIRATES WIN the group with a home win over Edinburgh even if Scunthorpe win at Edinburgh. That will put us on 7 and Scunthorpe on 6 WITHOUT the need to win at Edinburgh! Hope Anders is back soon and not too badly hurt. Pirates Of Poole
I really didn’t expect that at all, I thought a Scunthorpe win by 6-8 tonight if they rode like they did at Poole! Heat one was the wrong decision and Mountain should have gone but then Allen’s engine going while on a 5-1 worked back in our favour. Well done to the Pirates! Hope Anders is ok, if his season is now done can we sign a replacement?

It's ok on met office, just has a shower at 4pm. Google has 90% chance of rain. But 5 days away so prob change 5/6 times before then! Better hope it's on, or do next Sat otherwise Edinburgh get the points apparently! Edited September 22, 2023 by lisa-colette
