I never said they’d spoken to dozens… it was mentioned by Rob Lyon that they’ve made contact with 21 - I got to 19, but couldn’t think of 2 more.

how is that possibly imaginary? If you’re looking to replace an 8.21 average rider the maximum any of these riders is an 8 so it’s not unrealistic or imaginable to think that these are the calibre of riders that they would engage with…?

As much as it was stated when Jan came in the MPT situation would be reassessed, imo that was just the PC thing to say, there was never any intention to bring him back in, just like there was no intention for him to be in the 1-7 at the start of the season and that is well documented.

Bagpuss said "dozens", without a single name and imagination, because you said "I imagine"

Bottom line... no proper team and little fixture fulfilment

Nothing was imagined,it was either stated in the speedway star in a press release somewhere as I can remember them saying they have spoken to at least 19 riders.

@StarBoyliterally wrote "I imagine" and then wrote a list of 19 riders he "imagined" had been approached!

I'll remind you that it was @Bagpuss that was originally "bleating and bellyaching" that "Lynn have spoken to dozens of riders, they are desperately trying to replace both unavailable team members." and this despite sacking off a rider, via Twitter, a rider who was in your original declared 1 to 7 at the start of the season and who was deemed good enough to return from the team that finished bottom of the league last year. And now you don't want him back because he's not quite as good as a rider who you binned off from last years team... you couldn't make it up! Now if he was approached to return and he told you to go do one fair enough but there's that little news coming from King's Lynn as regards filling the empty team spots that there's nothing other for Lynn fans to do than imagine just what is going on... especially when they see riders turning up elsewhere at other teams.

Anyway, like others have said, give this thread back to the Ippo supporters, they have their own problems, flying high at the top of the league even with an injury ravaged team, packing their place week in week out with a strong consistent team and a consistent regular fixture list.

I'm somewhat confused,  the KL meeting tomorrow means we've ridden 75% of our meetings so does that mean we then cannot sign anyone to replace Doyley?

Can we still use guests up to his average thereby using Tobi or Freddie or what?

You’re not alone Badge. I was of the opinion we had until Thursday next week when we face Lynn on the 1st at Foxhall to sign a replacement for Doyle, that’s what I was told. But you’re right, tomorrow’s meeting takes us to the 75% cut off so now I’m unsure. I personally think this is a daft “rule” anyway. There’s more than one club that’s tried to get in a heatleader without success. It’s not for the want of trying, it’s just proving impossible at the moment. I can accept a 75% rule for strategic changes, i.e dropping a fit rider for another to try and strengthen, but you should be able to sign a replacement for an injured rider whenever one becomes available. Doesn’t that make more sense?

So after tomorrow, (or next Thursday), a GP rider or a non GP rider come to that, of sufficient quality makes themselves available to us, we can’t sign him? We have to plod on for the rest of the season handpicking guests on a meeting by meeting basis instead? That to me is nonsensical.

Edit: Tobi wouldn’t be able to “guest” in any scenario Badge. Lynn will either still be using a watered down facility for him as he’ll still be declared part of their septet, or they’ve replaced him and released him but we can’t use him as a guest if he’s not part of someone’s declared 1-7.

Freddie can only guest once he has ridden 3 home 3 away and established a new average

Interesting point re Tobi  - he currently is in a declared 1-7 (hence we can't sign him) so in theory could guest. Worth a try even if only to prove a point.....

If we can’t find (or being prevented from) a replacement, we should be on the blower to Freddie and asking if he fancies two cup final meetings and either 2 or 4 play off meetings in September. Providing his then established average allows of course.

Agreed - No brainer choice. Closest you will get to a new signing. Provides continuity and maintains some semblance of integrity to a farcical situation

With his season winding down by then, that can only help in his availability you’d think. No Birmingham clashes I can see on the fixture list either. Just a Leicester v Lynn fixture on the cup final dates. Let’s see if we can source a replacement first though. We’ll know one way or the other pretty quickly now. That’s still my preferred choice but if it doesn’t happen, I hope we don’t go in to the most important fixtures where trophies are decided, using different guests for home and away. Pick a preferred choice, and go with him for all the fixtures.

We have until Aug 1st which is Kings Lynn at home. That will be the 18th meeting, which is 75%. The home meeting v the Aces has still to be arranged...

I accounted for that and came out with 75% after Thursday. Shows how terrible my maths is! Must have counted a meeting twice somewhere.

So just over a week left, let’s see if Lynn announce a new rider(s) next Friday. What’s the odds? :D

My guess is zero chance, they are a few meetings away from completeing 75%...

The cynic in me says they have replacements waiting to go and will announce them 24 hours after Ipswich complete their 75% fixtures next week out of spite.

Don't know about a No.1. But  i was told on Monday  that Lewi is guesting at 1 on Thursday, and they’re going to sort a deal out after. Nothing on a Tobi replacement though.

If it is to be a guest for the KOC finals and the play offs, the Witches may find they have an additional problem of Emil being back at no.1 so the 8 day guest rule could be an issue. We’ll have to wait and see what the averages are. Maybe the Witches need to manage Emil’s average just as skilfully as Peterborough’s Rob Lyon kept Ulrich Ostergaard at second in the averages in 2021. A few ‘engine failures’ for other riders in key matches worked wonders!
