Ipswich Witches 2024 serious team predictions

Might be going off topic but I've believed for a long time that moving riders in and out of a side should have rules in place to protect some riders

What I'd like to see is

If a rider increases his average say from 4.5 to 5.00 and a club release him, they only have his starting average to use in terms of points for team building

On the other hand to keep sides competitive, if a rider goes from 7.13 and drop to say 6.15,  a rider can be released and the club can replace him or her using the starting average

If a rider who is released has increased his average he can sign for another side using his starting average

If a rider who is released has dropped his average he can be signed by another club but on his current average i.e. 6.15 based on the example above as his previous club can use his start average for his replacement

I believe some kind of transfer system should be in place due to the Musielek situation, if he's refused to ride and lynn have a 28 day facility i dont think its fair for another club to sign him

I'd impose something like a transfer fee to the club if the rider wants to ride in the same season, or he is free to join from the following season

Lynn in these circumstances should be able to sign a replacement but a transfer fee should still be paid

So tapping up should just be accepted?

Maybe Sheffield should figure out how to get Sayfutdinov in for Woffinden seeing as stealing rider's is the way forward

Tapping up?? Musielak had been back from injury riding in Poland for a few weeks before Doyle got injured!

I guess maybe Hawkins and Louis phoned him and said they’d got a crystal ball and foreseen Doyle’s season ending injury and would be like to replace him?

These riders are contractors though not employees... having been a contractor myself, if I'm lucky I'm on a weeks notice but generally it's 1 day notice.

I would assume riders would sign a BSPL drafted contract as regards notice periods etc with the actual money "deal" left blank for clubs to offer and riders to accept or turn down.

I definitely like the idea where a rider is dropped having raised his average. Don't think any change is needed when they drop their average though.

He made his comeback for his Polish club 3 days after Doyle got injured.Doyle injured on the 23rd May,Musielak comeback for his Polish club 26th of May.Don't forget Musielak only got injured 3 weeks before Doyle. So for him to be back riding a few weeks before Doyle got injured he must have had some kind of miracle healing.

Enlighten me then, oh wise one.

2022 Rulebook

012.2 TEAM COMPOSITION

A Premiership Transfer Window opens after 25% of the League fixtures are complete and closes when 75% of League fixtures are complete. This permits changes to the team on 2 occasions, except for proven long term injury.

No rule broken.

2023 Rulebook

010.2.1 Established MA’s

Are calculated, up to and including the cut-off date for a specified number of applicable meetings. Taking account of the number of heats and points (excluding bonus points) that a rider has scored. Updated MA’s will be calculated monthly on a rolling basis on all eligible meetings from the past 2 seasons, up to and including 23rd of the month, to become effective from the 1st of the following month.

Lamberts MA was not calculated in this way because he was on an assessed average. (2022 7.61 2023 7.81). His assessed average was shown on declarations with a * for his entire 2023 season because he was riding with an assessed average. He had an old established MA but didn’t HAVE a current one.

012.4.2 Guest Rider (G)

c) the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA.

Have is current tense not past tense.

Rule broken.

Heard a brief interview with Louis on Radio Suffolk this morning… said that Doyle’s recovery was going well and he reiterated that we won’t see him again this season - I wonder if people had started to think that the lack of signing a replacement might mean he would make a miraculous recovery, so perhaps Louis was keen to manage expectations.

I wonder if we’ll get our “guest” man a team suit for 4/6 meetings in September instead of a bib? Make him essentially a proper team member in effect :D

I'm Sure Lindgren would get some Ipswich Kevlars if he asks for them in the Play Offs and KO Cup Final Arch :t:

Having those put together at short notice would mean finding someone called Fast Threadie

I'll get my coat :D

Surely as we'll either be facing Sheffield or Belle Vue, we should be looking for a rider who can ride the bigger tracks, Huckenbeck looked good riding round Belle Vue in the SON

I feel if its used, if you sign say Laguta on an 8 average and he peddles around on a 5, you can swap him out for an 8pter

I think it would keep the league really competitive

Good news and this has been best and most obvious solution for a while now. The Witches management may need to ensure Emil doesn’t go back to #1 and possibly cause an issue with the eight day rule.

I believe it doesn't apply to the play offs

Think so, they changed the rules after last season so riders can only guest for one team in playoffs but can ride in all of a teams meetings didn’t they?
