Ipswich Witches 2024 serious team predictions

No disrespect to Harris or Scotty both absolute icons of the sport in this country. However, I’d rather gamble on the best rider in the world coming in even if he doesn’t perform as well round foxhall as perhaps scotty would. We need to keep attracting new riders over to Britain and I would argue the same two riders guesting in almost every meeting for various teams throughout the season is an example of wrong with the sport over here currently. Need a bigger talent pool and bringing the top boys back here is only a good thing.

Totally agree, using guests all the time becomes a bit flat, yes results are excellent so who am i to moan, but as a Witches fan who travels Home and Away, i'd much rather see a new Rider come in for Doyley, whoever it is will struggle to get anywhere near to what Jason brings to this team, but i agree, it sums the sport up in the UK if Guests are continuosly used right through to the Play Offs and Cup Final, i know how hard they are trying to get one in, but one must come available soon and i for one would like a Permanent replacement for Jason sooner rather than later.

Exactly my feelings. As much as I love seeing Ipswich win and competitive again after years. The thing that has me buzzed the most the last few seasons is having 1/2 of the best riders in the world at the club. I’d pay to watch Doyle and Emil race alone. Also bringing exciting young talents over like Rew always gets people interested. Speedway is has and always will predominantly be about entertainment and putting bums on seats as much as winning. Ipswich are a well run club and wouldn’t continue to persist to employ top riders (likely at significant outlay) if it isn’t of benefit to the club and the sport in the UK. The work the ipswich team/sponsors put into bringing Emil over here arguably made it possible for other clubs to start bringing back some of the bigger names.

Imagine that...BARTOSZ ZMARZLIK...

That would certainly be a coup for Louis & Co!

You never know that could well happen sign him just before the cit off, 1 meeting in July 5 in August & then cup final & play offs in September & October it’s not a busy schedule.

I think the Witches management have played it really well thus far by not making a rash move that they might later regret. They have also increased their prospects of landing a top line replacement as the passage of time results in a shorter period to commit to the UK which may be more attractive to an incoming rider.

Sill far from easy though but if any management team can provide a solution it will be CL & Co.

If there is to be a new signing, assuming no further postponements, I calculate that the first appearance would have to take place no later than 25 July at King’s Lynn so not long to wait before we know for sure.

Why would Zmarzlik risk his world title hopes for pocket change in England?

Lublin would also not be happy if he got injured in England.

Interesting article that came out of Polish media is that Dan Bewley is on £1500 a point at Wroclaw, works out at about £10000 -15000 a meeting. Can imagine the 4x world champ dictates a bit more than that lets say £2500 a point, so £25000 a meeting.

Cant imagine a world where Ipswich can pay anything close to that (£10k tops). Nevertheless, still not chump change.

Zmarzlik wouldn't ride in Ipswich just for money. It would be to have more time on the bike, this is why he is deliberating if it's worth the risk IE. bike time vs injury. He is the superstar of speedway and rightly so. Although, this offer from Ipswich probably would be the most tempting time for him to come to England and test his skills back in England.

To get rough Pound sterling divide by 5.

Polish Media translated to English:

According to Puka's information, presented in "Kanał Sportowy", our best speedway rider collects over 10 million per season. Of course, the exact amount depends on the results. However, the lion's share of it comes from the club. As the journalist informed, Motor Lublin pays Zmarzlik six million zlotys per season. In addition, there are another two million guaranteed by a sponsorship contract with Orlen. Another million is a matter of other individual sponsors, and half a million - a contract with Lejonen Gislaved.

In addition, there are prizes that the player can win during the season. It is 600 thousand zlotys for the Grand Prix series and about 150 thousand for participation in other tournaments.

£1.2m a season just from Lublin is outrageous.
£85k a meeting
£17k a minute

Crazy right! I go to many Gorzow races as my partner is Polish and from there. Not sure on Thomson and Vaculik wages but every top rider is similarly in the thousands of pounds per point plus a basic club wage. Tried to figure out last night whilst at the Gorzow vs Lublin match how much they get on the gate. Average attendance in Gorzow is 10,000. Last nights ticket was 80 zloty = £800,000 zloty. Then obviously sponsors and every match in Poland is live on either Canal plus or Eleven TV. So you can kind of see how they make it work!

Also, bear in mind weirdly in Poland. 8 teams in Ekstraliga. 8th relegation. 7th nothing. 1st-6th have 3 stage play off equalling another 6 matches for every team (home and away).

Partner said the three stage playoff was new for last season and brought in to push the revenue up. Make sense when you think how much money is involved!

Adam Ellis had a nasty fall at Birmingham. Hope he’s okay. Real shame with his form this season looks like a rejuvenating rider loving his speedway again.

It was a nasty fall, but he got up ok,the way he was stretching his body as he was walking looked like he may have been winded.Let's hope that is the case anyway.

If it's true about Tobi not returning to KL then Ipswich should be all over it.

Will no doubt meet Sheffield in the KOC and Premiership final so Tobi is the perfect fit for the rest of the season.

He is good on big and small tracks so if all the other options have been explored, could be a good solution.

Could be between Tobi & Zmarzlik I have a hunch the latter might be interested in coming over from August 1st

Do you take a chance on Bartek saying yes whilst allowing Musielak to get snapped up elsewhere is the question? Leicester or Oxford would jump at the chance of signing Tobi.

Big gamble if you ask me considering Tobi is a track specialist around Sheffield.
