Once again, astute use of the rule book - that still doesn’t make it a false average.

I think it depends on what you mean by 'false'.

Realistically Tarasenko was squeezed between Brady Kurtz and Tobi Musialak in the 2021 Polish averages (he didn't ride in 2022 due to still being Russian). That would make 7.00 an appropriate Premiership assessment and with a realistic conversion factor of 1.3 (as opposed to the absurd 1.5) he would be on 9.00 in the Championship. That would be a fair assessment.

So to the extent 5 is less than 9 (it is, I've checked) it is a false average.

Is 5.00 correct within the rules? Yes, and is therefore a true assessment and not a false one.

Getting away from Tarasenko I think a lot will depend on who is or isn't available on Wed.

If both Heeps and Vissing miss the meeting then with r/r in place I'd say Glasgow may have the advantage.

However the key could be if Ace Pjiper rides at reserve or not for The Tigers.

If not could be see some more astute management (by The Promotion not the manager) and Luke Kileen booked as a guest?

Catch 22 I guess. Vote against it and you might need the rule later in the season ;)

You do realise if Glasgow win the league, we will have months of 'debating' his average or what it should be. So for everyone's sanity better hope Oxford or Poole win :D

Expand

Only one team gonna win the league Lisa, C'MON THE PIRATES :t:

I've already written the script with Ben Cook taking the lead role & Joe Thompson best supporting role!

The rules are wrong. How can you have the same rider assessed at the same average for both leagues .

Expand

Because everyone agreed that would be the rule. Therefore, they agreed that was the correct rule. Fine to change it by agreement, and it makes a lot of sense, but they decided that's how it would be.

Glasgow getting in Tarasenko with a false average has made them into title favourites I think. 43-47

Expand

Not for me, Poole don't have a weak link from 1-7 and are still pretty clear favourites IMO, as they have been all season.

Very clever and astute by the Glasgow promotion. Its within the rules so expect it to be tweaked at the AGM.

Matt Ford would be both annoyed and proud!:t::rofl:

Expand

Glasgow did a Matt Ford move, they learned from the best, granted Tarasenko strengthened Glasgow, however we are still very weak at reserve and have a habit of capitulating in important meetings

Well if Smith rides as well as he did yesterday he'll do a job.

Just because they all agreed to it, does not make it correct or right to it just means they made a rule that wasnt thought through properly.

Yeah schroek said he had a plan for if heeps was missing. Killeen was never going to be available to us. Smith deserves another go after Redcar imo

Expand

Would Killeen be happy with that? Potentially no rides as a number 8 vs 3 guaranteed rides guesting for the opposition.

They still have a weakness at reserve especially with Ace injured and with Vissing out only r/r available and some have said he is very good at Glasgow so not cut and dried although getting Tarasenko was a masterstroke.

Expand

Vissing this season scored 1+1 from 4 rides, well off the pace.

6+1 from 4 for Birmingham last year.

If I were Glasgow, I would not be telling him to rush back that's for sure. Tarasenko n Brennan with 2 reserves rides looks better to me.

As per British speedway site averaging over 9 with gsa of 8.12 at home. R/R won't cover that

Expand

To be fair, he has a decent home average, but over two legs, one at Oxford, r/r scores more in my opinion.

Yes thats is top scoring so he will be missed, i was only replying to someone else who was saying he hasnt been that good. He hasnt been good for Sheffield though so I am sure they are happy with guests. The other thing to consider is will Vissing be as good coming back from injury.
