Where on earth are you getting that from?   If 30% of tests were positive that would be nearly one out of every three.  Where and who are all the other positive tests then?

Think there has been 1 test each month during the 5 month season

2 riders each time so 10 tests with 3 positive so 30%

There's been tests at more than 5 meetings but we don't hear about them.  The only thing the SCB have said is that there were 2 meetings in August tested (Belle Vue v Workington and Poole v Birmingham) and all 8 riders were negative.

If they only do 2 meetings every month (April - October) and got 3 positives, that's only  6.25% positive.

To get to "over 30%" you must only be counting the 2 meetings which produced positive tests (the one with Morris, and the one with Worrall/Boxall).  If they were the only 2 meetings tested then it would be 37.5% positive.  But we know those weren't the only meetings tested.

I find it really strange that the identical "substances" were found in 2 individuals samples. I also think the bans should be reworded to be "seasons" rather than years so that there is no benefit gained by being banned outside of the racing window.

They both took the same highly prevalent drug (cocaine). The other detected chemical is not a drug but a breakdown product of cocaine. It stays in the system longer than the cocaine.

Of the riders who have failed tests in the last 2 years, is anyone surprised who they were? Rumours about some of them have been knocking about for sometime so maybe British Speedway has been "randomly" clearing its decks.

Maybe the rules need to be that if a team member gets caught then the whole team gets banned for a month, that should inspire each team member to deter whoever is thinking about taking anything, not to. The one caught then gets a ban and on returning from this then needs to prove they have worked with a drugs support service.

but that penalises the fans. Or perhaps you thinking there is so few of them who would care.

I hear what you say but it was meant as a team issue to prevent individuals being selfish. How often do these individuals get caught anyway? Everyone needs to care ! It has a roll on effect when someone takes banned substances.

Erm.... That would be 15%         3/(2 x 10) = 15%

The thing is, we generally only hear about the tests when there's a positive.  We know that in August 4 riders were tested at each of the Belle Vue and Poole meetings with no positives, but generally we don't get told about tests where none were positive, and of course this is how it should be to maintain randomness.

I think at the end of each season a list of tracks/teams where tests were carried out should be released - not necessarily naming riders selected (but it wouldn't be a bad thing to know) so that supporters are aware of the testing programme/schedule.

We can argue about percentages till we're blue in the face. The fact is that two senior, well known riders, as well as Steve Boxall, have been found guilty and banned, this year. Regardless of the number of tests done, this is far too many. Other factors might suggest there are others that have escaped detection and that's an even bigger concern.

I have joked in the past, when a rider seems to be doing unusually well, that he won't pass the drugs test. Respected riders being "found out" makes me realise it ain't funny. It undermines the whole sport and threatens to attract the wrong sort of publicity. Not to mention the risk to life.

Definitely not enough testing done in a Professional Sport with such high risk consequences. If that is Worrells genuine Post as a reply on social media he is a disgrace to the Sport.

Disgusting response from Worrall. Is there any reason to suggest it’s not genuine?

Not really , but apart from this forum I don’t do social media. So don’t really know , but people have been know to have their account hacked.

Considering how many riders including his twin liked and commented on it, I would say it is genuine.

Richie has another 30 day suspension added to his current ban following his social media outburst!! Plus a further fine!

www.scbgb.co.uk

Should that now not be the full 12 months ban as 6 months of it was suspended?
