Match Points received.

Should the winners of league matches have received 3 points instead of 2 points?

When there is a superheat the match has 3 points available whereas when there is no superheat there is only 2 points available.

This won't make a difference to the Championship table but could make a difference to the Premiership table.

As an example. If you take 2 points of Wolverhampton and 1 point of Leicester it would make the meetings on Thursday night more intense (Belle Vue also have a couple of points but wouldn't affect the play-offs).

Never thought of it that way.

Surely the promoters in charge should have seen that potentially being a problem.

Don't be daft, the promoter's never put that much thought into rules. They'll come up with an idea to fix a problem, blissfully unaware it creates 2 new problems

I think matches should have a set amount of points, so if they have to keep the "stupid heat" I'd make the scoring 3(2-1)0.

But remember last year matches didn't always have the same points gained. Home wins could be 3-1 or 3-0, away wins could be 0-3 or 0-4

Even without the super heat a draw was always worth 3 points. Away team got 2!

You got 3 points for a win last year also.

Only time more points were gained was when you won by 7 or more points away from home (deserved an extra point).

Can see what's being said.

Absolutely no problem with 3 Pts for a win, 2 Pts for an away draw, 1 Pt for a home draw and 0 Pts for a loss.

The superheat is a real waste of money and really only benefits a team with two real big hitters, now remind me who thought it up.

Why only 2 pts for an away draw? Why not 4? or 5? etc.

Things are always best when kept simple.

There’s nothing wrong with three points for a win, one for a draw and nothing for losing, whether you are home or away. It places an emphasis on winning every match. An aggregate bonus point being up for grabs isn’t too complicated to grasp either.

Superheats aren’t needed in any event. If the aggregate scores are level then there’s nothing wrong with a good old fashioned run off.

I first made this point back in April

Extra points not available to every team is wrong in every way

Was it by any chance thought up by someone connected to a team who may well not now reach the playoffs because of Leicester benefiting from it at Wolverhampton last night? :)
