Teams should really only be fighting for home 2nd leg when it is the final.

Not if Superheats are going too be used in aggregate scores are tied.

Glasgow scunny and Redcar I guess can run any day so shouldn't be too much of an issue so long as we don't get the usual we want the home leg 2nd nonsense

Play Offs are flawed if they need to rely on teams going off their usual race night to allow them to be completed hideously.

You're problem would be if Glasgow scunny and Redcar for example were in same group would take 6 weeks to complete for all the meetings to be completed assuming don't have a rain off. You're then again running the final end of October/ November.

Play offs in general are flawed to me, it's an Americanism brought in for no good reason. I mean the fact that Edinburgh in theory could've totally changed their side and go on to "win" by finishing 6th in a 9 team league is utter nonsense

Should have been "timeously" but "hideously" isnt too far away - the curse of predictive text strikes again!

Most likely that both groups will have two Friday night tracks in them. Not sure if Glasgow want to avoid Friday Sept 15 as Ben Basso is at Danish GP the following night and may not be available. Chris Harris wont be available on Sunday Sept 17 as he will be away winning the World Long Track title (hopefully).

Poole hosted,Edinburgh on a,Sunday rather than their usual Wednesday. Danny Ford has already stated publicly that he wants a home meeting on Wednesday 13th.

The solution here is to fall back on race night priority. Not ideal but there’s a reason it’s there.

The better solution going forward would be to put play-offs in the bin completely.

Not from a business point of view. Best crowds of the season for everyone involved. The main problem is too many teams ride on a Friday. Poole are still waiting for Scunny and Redcar to do KOC SF yet.

That is true. But if there are no play-offs then the regular league meetings become more meaningful and more attractive propositions to attend.

A couple of good crowds a season for a cluster of clubs isn’t a good enough reason to render the majority of the rest of the season pointless. If anything it probably hurts the integrity of the sport more. Especially with the convoluted play-off format we currently have.

Good point. But only if first place goes down to the wire like this season and not sorted out weeks before like last season.

I think it’s important to remember that Speedway is firstly a sport, secondly a form of entertainment. That comes in the form of the racing and potentially if the league campaign contains an interesting title race.

I enjoyed Rye House’s 2005 title infinitely more than the 2007 title because we finished top of the table in 2005. We snuck into the play-offs in 2007 and then Sheffield (who were awful around Rye House) did us a massive favour by beating Kings Lynn over two legs in their semi. And I said I’d never become one of those people who hark back to seasons from almost two decades ago…

The problem we all have ,is all teams have had 18 weeks from the first championship meeting to be completed in early May to this week .                                  So 8 home and 8 away fixtures in the championship surely is achievable for all teams .The cut off date should not have been extended

Plymouth , Scunthorpe,Glasgow and Redcar can ride any night at there tracks

.Poole ,Oxford ,Edinburgh ,Birmingham and Berwick all have alternative nights they can race on so why has the Championship League not been completed is beyond me

This is far too sensible it will never catch on down BSPL way.

Plymouth cannot ride any night, due to planning constraints.

Apologies with regards Plymouth home fixtures , they will go into the 2nd batch of teams then and I’m sure they will have an alternative night to race like in the 2nd group . So still 8 home matches in 18 weeks is achievable

So you have 4 teams who have Friday nights as their designated race night and then Poole and Plymouth who ride Tues/Weds but their off race night is also Fridays lol. Looks like Poole's third choice is Sunday though depending on Polish fixtures and amount of stadium staff available ;)
