Johnnybegood, you will be pleased to know that at the end of the year I will be closing my account on here,

for information I don't drink beer and stick with lager and also my life is my concern and not sad but I am always

interested in what is happening with the sport.

I am sorry to hear that Wolverhampton is closing at the end of the year since it was opened at the same time

as Brough Park and the track layout was an exact copy of our track.

Some people actually follow through with it when they say they’re fed up of the dross that’s served up and are going to walk away. Doesn’t mean they’re not fans of the sport, but of how it is run.

I’m a Speedway fan but it would take a lot to get me to a domestic meeting these days. Doesn’t mean I don’t follow it. I just refuse to hand over my money because doing so tells the people running the clubs they’re doing a good enough job. They’re not.

How many times have you repeated similar negativity over and over on this forum?  Insanity!!

I find it amazing that somebody would not hand over money to pay for something they enjoy just to make a point. Hate to say it, but it's not going to change just because you stopped going. Enjoy your life, and do the things you enjoy. If there's no speedway in this country in 10/20 years, you'll end up regretting it I'm sure. But each to their own.

I understand your point, but if your partner cheated on you repeatedly and generally treated you awfully would you walk away or keep going back just because you love them? It’s a similar principle.

Looking at the crowds the sport attracts these days I’d say more people have taken the same action I have than not. To get to a meeting anywhere it would take a two hour journey for me, if Rye House were still running perhaps I’d think differently. I get my fix these day at GPs or through TV meetings that are part of a subscription I already pay for.

Fair play haha!  Far from negative. Just realistic and don’t like to see a sport I love being run in to the ground. Plenty of fans out there like me who could be attracted back, not much being done to do so.

Good luck to Ashton, he's certainly a very good rider and got all the making of achieving world class status in the not too distant future.Hopefully he'll be guided by having the right people around him and not waste this obvious talent he's got.

I don't know why you'd say this, the kid only has a 7 point average in the NDL, naturally I hope you're right but there's far too much being expected from this lad and I really can't understand why?

I can think and say what I want mate, it doesn't hurt anyone does it? That's the trouble in life, people expect too much!

Of course you can... I'm just wondering what the lads pedigree is, I genuinely don't know... it's not like he's got a string of titles to his name is it? I don't know. To say he can be world class soon is very premature... he may be the next Max Clegg

I think the expectation is there because of how far he has come in a year since first sitting astride a speedway bike, and the style he has on the bike already. Best thing he can do is get over to Poland next year, its been rumoured that that will be the case. It could go either way of course but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he isn't a big name in the sport in a few years time.

Seen the kid 3-4 times this year at worky, very impressed for a 15/16 year old can gate can overtake and not a one line pony. Willing to race, if he keeps grounded and gets some good help and advice along the way. IMO he will go far, the last 2 riders I had the same feeling about were Joe screen riding round belle Vue after the meeting, and Dan bewley, I've been following this daft sport since 1970, so can spot good or bad

It's early days and it is not unreasonable to sound a note of caution, but he scored 7+1 on his Championship debut. Dan Bewley only scored 5 points in his first 5 appearances at Championship level.

I've only seen him Live twice and both times he was underwhelming. Seems like I've caught him on a bad day... looking forward to watching him progress and hopefully hit the top

Has had 8 rides for Ipswich, and scored one gifted point. Now they were two tough meetings in the top tier so it’s not a criticism (although two or three points would have been nice) but having seen him at Lynn last night he currently looks miles off rising star standard in the Premiership. For perspective, Danny King was chucked straight in to a high quality Elite league by John Louis at 16 years old many years ago and instantly scored points. Every rider is different though, some show immediate talent and then never progress, others start very slowly and end up topping the world.

I do find all these predictions a little premature and strange, been here a few years back with Drew Kemp who by now was tipped to be a GP Star! Let’s just wait and see how the lad develops.

I think these Premiership rides are great experience, as long as he knows that he's not expected to score points and he doesn't let his head go down. Every lap he does between now and the end of the season with three other riders will build towards him fulfilling his potential, as has been said lets see how he develops over the next two or three years

Yet to see this young lad ride but there’s been lots of trumpeting of his name. So I looked up his scoring and there’s nothing there to see. Seems many are getting carried away and for a young lad to have his own thread for scoring zero is ridiculous. Let him learn at his own pace and if he’s any good in a few seasons then that’s great. But at the moment he seems out of his depth in the Championship, never mind the PL.

He actually said he'd never ridden a track so deep  and with so much grip last night!

Yet you feel the need to comment having said you'd never seen him ride? If that's the case, why comment? That seems far more pointless than actually having a thread about him.

And 7+2 on his Championship debut means he's out of his depth does it? Something tells me the green eyed monster might be at work.

I comment as it’s a thread where people comment! Green eyed monster? For what reason would that be? Answer me that. Seriously let the lad develop and if he turns out to be good like Bewley and Lambert, then fantastic. But he could turn out like Justin Elkins. Fast and impressive as a youngster, then nothing. Elkins beat Crump in match races. Look how that eventually turned out.
