As they were used in BSN group meetings and same system of mini leagues. SR012.1.1b Championship League Championship League, teams will meet on 2 occasions, 1 home and 1 away. The top 6 clubs qualify for the play offs going into 2 groups of 3. The team who finishes top will select their 2 group members, the other 3 Speedway Control Bureau Regulations 116 qualifying clubs make up the second group. The winners of each group will contest a 2 legged final home and away with the aggregate winner being crowned the Championship League Champions. A rider who’s team is not in the play offs may only guest for one team in each group of the play offs. Excluding the final. A rider may only guest for one team in any 2 legged tie (home and away). SR012.4.5 Tactical Substitute (TS) Is not applicable in a 2 legged tie. 012 1.1b Restricts guests to riders from the bottom three clubs. each individual rider from those three Clubs can guest in both mini-leagues but for one Club only in each mini-league. 'Excluding the final'? I think this resets the clock and allows any rider eligible to guest to ride for a team in the final regardless of whether they guested for that particular club in the mini-leagues. 012.4.5 Permits Tactical Substitutes in the mini groups but not in the Grand Final.

Wee Eck
21 minutes ago, DazS said: well that makes sense. I think it makes perfect sense - a 2 legged tie is different from a mini league. At the risk of staying the obvious, a 2 legged tie is one where the outcome is decided over 2 legs. So a knock out cup round or a play off final (and semi in the case of the Premiership) is a 2 legged tie, a league, full or mini, isn’t.

TheWellBehavedWorrall
Does anyone know the probability of Glasgow riding at home again next Friday? Also, in these groups of three, are there home and away fixtures? Or does each club face one another once? Rider logistics are complicated, and only one of Glasgow and Redcar can be at home next Friday.
Neila
To complicate matters the NDLRC is held on the 24th of September, and had been planned since the beginning of the season, do Glasgow or Redcar arrange a meeting on this day and affect the NDLRC meeting at Workington ?? I hope not, because I want to go to that! And I suspect there’s a decent number who would like to support Connor in it too.

I personally don't understand the point of this guest restriction in the play-offs. For example; 1) in the BSN series Jason Edwards can guest for group rivals & risk knocking his own side out - deemed acceptable by the rule makers! 2) Josh Pickering can guest for one of his clubs rivals for 6th spot & risk his own side dropping down to 7th - deemed acceptable by the rule makers! 3) yet a rider from group A, guesting in group B, which means it can't affect his own team whatsoever - not allowed by the rule makers! Noelinho
From a riders' point of view, it gives riders outside the playoffs a better chance of a payday.

You are right, scenarios 1 & 2 shouldn't be allowed to happen either. But at least they have stopped it for the actual league play offs. And I'd argue it could affect a rider's own team....they could contribute towards eliminating a side they don't want to face or helping a team get through who they do! arnieg
There is also a problem in that the number of teams not in the play-offs is so small that guest options are very limited.
