Poole v Edinburgh. 20/8/23 Championship 5pm.

Recommended Posts

A rare Sunday teatime treat at Wimborne Road on Sunday at 5pm as Pirates take on the Edinburgh Monarchs. A decent forecast with the risk of an afternoon shower but at the moment nothing to rain off the meeting.

Not sure just yet who Pirates will be using as a guest. Nathan Ablitt should be a good shout imo. Would like an update on Adam Roynon injury, to give us an indication of if he will be back this year.

Edinburgh bring along Craig Cook and Josh Pickering who both do OK around here. Interested to see Bastian Borke as he looked impressive at Berwick a couple of weeks ago. But really the Monarchs are of no serious threat and we should win this one very comfortably. Are Monarchs at full strength or using r/r ?  A big crowd expected. Games open at 4pm.

Has Cook had his bikes released by the police yet?;)

I hear we will have a different start Marshall on Sunday due to holiday absences. Hope the ref keeps a close eye on movement at the starts......!

Kent are riding Sunday, so probably rules out Nathan

Let's hope it's not the same ref as last night then, rollers galore

Should be an easy victory for the Monarchs with Dayle Wood getting an 18 point maximum

just as long as he stays clear of Kyle Newman's dirt deflector!!!!!  Kyle is quite able to hit the ground on his own - as last night indicated!!

Thanks for your “concern”

Yes Craig has only just got his bike back but you don’t break a light standard in half without causing damage

and, yes I hope the ref has his / her eyes on ALL riders at the start

I'll be traveling down again on Sunday for this one & looking forward to a Pirates victory over an Edinburgh team that av hopefully beaten Oxford a couple of days before.

Me thinks it's a 54-36 victory for the Pirates but with 3 Cooks on display there may well be the occasional spicy moment!

C'mon the Boyzzzzz :t:

A shame for Adam through no fault of his own. Broken shoulder blade will take time to heal and time is not something readily available at the end of august. Doubt Joe Thompson will do as good a job but the best of what is available. Welcome Joe and we all hope you can get dialled into the Wimborne Road circuit.

Welcome on board the Pirate Ship Joe Thompson :t:

A youngster I have seen develop alongside his brother Dan at Leicester. Let's all get behind Joe because he has had his confidence issues and now is the time we need all 7 Pirates riding collectively at their best.

Will miss Adam and hope he has a speedy recovery.

C'mon the boyzzzzz! :t:

If Joe can pick up 2-3 points a meeting then he'll be doing ok

Plus keep forgetting just come back from injury and will need a few home meetings to get to grips with the track. Maybe a job for the captain with advice as the quicker he settles in the better it will show in the scoring :t:
