LagutaRacingFan
So Wolves give their team some annual leave during the season, and still get a facility?

They get a facility for Masters, who has to take his family out of the UK for visa purposes, and Schlein who is injured. Replacements for the other two are only up to three-quarters of their average. He rode for his Polish team today and apparently he is riding for Poole on Weds as that was always down in the fixture list. So a 2 day holiday, which unless it is at home both days would be travelling. Dougy more understandable as he not riding again til Friday. Or maybe not, he could still have a 3 day holiday after riding for Wolves on Mon! I'm prob bring mean but they do have Nov, Dec,Jan, Feb to have any holidays!! 3 hours ago, Skidder1 said: Nothing wrong with a 3 night mini break in Poland!! I agree it's odd Worrall not being available if he's riding on Sunday & Wednesday. However if he's on a 3 night break in Poland, why can't he fly to the UK on Monday night to race then back again (like a foreign ride would)? Surely "no facility " should mean just that. blanks on team sheet.... As for simply on holiday.... how many fans will do the same... The problem with blank spaces, is no fans turn up & clubs lose money, the 75% average rule is to ensure clubs are weakened but competitive I guess? Agree. A significant points deduction should be the appropriate punishment. Wolves have harmed the integrity of the league.

If he has his family with him, asked for and received permission from his club in advance as there was originally no scheduled meeting in World Cup week, I can't see the issue. Wolves are being made to fulfill the fixture because Sheffield have no other dates ( apparently)!! I thought it was the home team to be penalised if they can't fulfill fixtures - not the away team!? Unless their contract says they have to be available every Monday & Thursday during the season? Fixtures are arranged at short notice all the time. Holiday riders should be ready and in the parade at Owlerton.

You can’t see the issue? Take your rose tinted specs off for once and then you might. what would of happened if let’s say Adam Ellis either couldn’t ride in the SWC or wasn’t picked and Worrall was next in line being a squad rider - would he still be on holiday? Same goes for Douglas. Joke situation. I’ll also add, when was this fixture put into the fixture list? You can often move holidays for no additional costs quite close to the actual date of departure. Wolfsbane
It would be interesting to know if CVS has done the same in previous years world cup weeks.
IainB
As self employed contractors, unless there's something written into the riders contract, they can go on holiday whenever they like. Of course if they do they may be due sanctions from the BSPL/SCB but as it is the latter that is insisting this fixture goes ahead it's hard to blame the riders for this one.

You’d imagine that the first part of any contract would be that the riders have to be available for all fixtures unless they are injured Wonder if Eurosport will be showing this fixture now the other match is off? Given the weekend rain we have had in Sheffield I will be very surprised if this is on, I hope it is but would be surprised - pretty much constant rain both Sat and Sunday Edit - BSPA site suggesting next match is now 7 days Leicester v Ipswich Edited July 24, 2023 by GeneralMelchett

Riders should be available for every race night in their league(s) from March to October inclusive. By all means book something last minute but I'm afraid this situation just isn't good enough.
