How is it Craig Cook got a heat 15 d/q as well as a second warning and was still allowed to restart on 15 meters? As it turned out it wouldn't necessarily have affected the final result - just interested......... Just double checked, page 103 of the rule book, I tried to copy the text and paste but can't on my phone and can't be bothered pulling out the laptop, But yes second warning results in exclusion and can put reserve in or take the "handicap"(off 15m) Jason Edwards had already done 7 heats so only other option would've been Wood.

The rule is crystal clear a rider receiving a second warning can go off 15m or be replaced by a reserve 2

It totally pi55es me off when some refs let jumping go but others pull it back then don't consistently follow it through for the rest of the meeting.

There's other rules though that shouldn't be down to interpretation, leaving the track after a restart is called, practice starts without helmets, lanyards not being worn while the engine is running, if you're not going to enforce them, why have them? It only makes it seem unfair when a referee all of a sudden decides to enforce them

eide67
Fantastic meeting last night. Obviously helps if you're a Monarchs fan but I thought it had everything - drama, excitement, emotion, great racing, close scores & controversy. Someone forgot to tell Bastian Borke that you can't pass at Berwick - he was sensational for a first time visitor.

A reserve replacement I can understand, but allowing the rider back on 15 meters???! otherwise whats the point of official warnings?? “011.1.5 UnsatisfactoryStarts The Referee will give a warning to any rider deemed to have been the cause of or contributed to the unsatisfactory start. This will be communicated verbally by the Referee to the rider concerned via the start marshal or clerk of course before the race is started. This warning remains effective until the rider commits a further starting offence, in a subsequent heat, in the same event. This will result in a mandatory disqualification from that heat. Following a mandatory disqualification for a second offence any previous warning is deleted. The handicap or reserve replacement option is permitted.” This is the ruling that seems to cover the events surrounding Heat 15 last night, interesting that the warning should be giving to the rider via the start marshal or the clerk of the course. It says nothing about centre green presenter, did Berwick break the rules twice last night after warnings were giving to Edinburgh riders by our wonderful centre green presenter or could he just not help himself. I get the Unsatisfactory starts ruling, but whats the point if after 2 warnings and a d/q the rider is still allowed to race albeit with a 15 metre handicap in which the rider could easily get away with a rolling start again!? It's hardly a punishment at all.
